do you feel that his performance now, and in September will have any indication on whether we will re-sign bay or not?

Absolutely not. The ideal situation is to resign Bay and have him develop into someone that can take over for Drew.

Where will Martinez regularly play? Youk and Lowell are solidified at 1st and 3rd and Poopie is the DH. Is Varitek getting the shaft?

lowell and vtek stand to lose the most time. mostly lowell because of his durability issues.

It will probably be something like 2-3 games a week at 1st, 1-2 at C, and 1-2 at DH. Lowell needs time off and so does Varitek, and he can DH against lefties. He'll get plenty of ABs.

Definitely a nice win tonight. Three double plays in three innings, each in a tight situation, didn't hurt either.

Bard just looks like a closer when he's out there. He looks poised and confident out there, and more importantly an 11.2 k/9 and 3.9 k/bb show he's missing bats and getting results. I do wonder what kind of value Paps would have on the trade market this off-season or after '10 because his attitude re: getting a huge payday, health questions, and a decent potential for decline would all make selling high a good idea.

Also, nice to see Reddick perform. I was honestly shocked to see him called up and wasn't expecting to hear from him until well into next year. No, you don't dump Bay this off-season and just assume Reddick magically turns into a 900 ops guy, but he's definitely one to watch and will be a servicable 4th/5th outfielder next year. His defense is fantastic and he appears to have good power and a lot of potential with the bat.

I don't know why Buchholz is only throwing his fastball and change at the moment. I know he's been having trouble with it lately, but he threw a few that looked nasty. At this point he better get his shit together, because he's gonna be 25 soon and his trade value takes a hit every day he goes without proving himself as a legitimate MLB starter.

On the plus side, the offense seems to have come around.

I'm also in love with Reddick. Small sample size be damned, he's looking like he could be Ellsbury defensively with a significantly better arm and much more power.
