If Woody watched this whole season and wasn't already planning on firing Glenn going into this game IDK that I want a knee jerk decision tomorrow morning.
Outside of a couple of posters who can give no reason to keep Glenn other than “he deserves another year” or “no one can win with this roster”, both of which are bullshit excuses, anyone with eyes could see AG is terrible and needs to be fired. We have a unique chance with a bunch of high draft picks to hopefully entice a better candidate. Excuse one is total bullshit…you have to earn next year, you don’t just “deserve” it. Excuse two is also total bullshit in three ways … (1) part of the reason the roster is so bad, and probably the main reason, is AG’s own choice of QB…Fields was his guy, and no, I don’t for one minute buy into “the GM owns the roster and Mougey forced Fields on Glenn” bullshit, (2) no one was expecting a lot of wins here…so it’s not really so much the lack of wins, but its the total ineptitude of how we’ve played, it’s the total lack of competitiveness, it’s the futility of setting more than one NFL record for sucking that is the problem…I’d have been fine with 3 or 4 wins if we had actually looked like an NFL team out there…but we didn’t, and (3) as bad as this roster is, and no question it is, but AG and his staff have not made ANY of these guys look good, and in fact, have made 3 former All Pro’s look the worst they’ve ever looked in Sauce, Q, and Quincy…coaching is supposed to be about maximizing your players, not minimizing them. How anyone can not see any of this is insane to me…you don’t need to go deep into stats, just watch the fucking games and you can see AG is total shit. He is Kotite. He is Gase. How can you not see this, and how can anyone want to go another year with this? Crazy
That statement, right there. Can I ask how you arrived at that decision? Literally within the last year and a half MOST NFL people were talking about how much young talent the Jets had. Young and talented with a good veteran presence is how I remember reading a lot of different articles and stories. Considering that 85% of the roster is the SAME as when those articles were written how do you explain that? A roster with consensus good young talent just put up the worst statistical season in NY Jets history AND eclipsed many league wide records that were DECADES old. How do you square that?
I understand what you're saying but have a problem with attaching any kind of importance to the "sidekick" throwaway line which came out of Johnson's mouth - a mere blurtation. His clear and prepared words on the Jets hierarchy were that both guys report to him, not to anyone else. This is not Batman and Robin or the Lone Ranger and Tonto - this is Abbott and Costello or Laurel and Hardy.
@Jonathan_Vilma, I don't know why he keeps harping on "right direction." Let me make sure I put some emphasis on this one. This team NEVER looked like it was going in the right direction from the jump. I don't know what @JackBower is smoking, yeah you Jack, but if you thought at any point in this season there was a positive then I can't take another thing you say seriously. You may think relying on your damn special teams to bail the team out by double digit margins is O.K. but I'll go ahead and call bullshit on that. One win. That's what this TEAM put up. One. Two wins by bullshit ST run back where the other team decided not to tackle does not represent a POSITIVE direction. My ass. This was a fucking debacle from day one to the last snap of today's game. There is NO contestation of that FACT. End of story. You can throw 2025 in the trash as having never existed because that's what it felt like and the stats prove out that statement.
Pretty good summary by Jake Asman below of what we were talking about. For Glenn to succeed he is going to be an outlier among outliers. Why would anyone want to take on these odds? I just don't understand why some Jets fans, however small contingent, want to see more. Woody is a proven imbecile, so I actually get why he would keep Glenn, he is just so easy to fool, but why a few folks here want more of this shit and enormous odds against us is hard to imagine. https://x.com/JakeAsman/status/2008036143481135284 " Why the Jets should fire Aaron Glenn: Over the last 25 seasons from 2001 to 2025, 29 first-time NFL head coaches have won four or fewer games in their debut season. Aaron Glenn is now part of that group. Only two of the previous 28 ever went on to win a playoff game in their careers: Zac Taylor and Dan Campbell. One had a Hall of Fame quarterback. The other has struggled whenever he hasn’t had his superstar offensive coordinator. For Glenn to reverse course, he would need to become one of the most extreme outliers in modern NFL history. The numbers from this season only make that hill steeper. The Jets became the first team in NFL history to lose five straight games in a single season by at least 23 points, and the first since the 1972 Patriots to lose five consecutive games by 20 or more. They also finished an entire season without recording a single interception despite facing 515 pass attempts and allowing 36 passing touchdowns, a statistic the league has tracked since 1933. Inside the division, the Jets went 0–6 and were outscored by an average of 20.3 points per game, the second worst divisional point differential in the current format dating back to 2002, trailing only the 2009 Rams. All of it culminated in a 3–14 finish, tied for the second most losses in franchise history, matching 2020 and trailing only the 1–15 season in 1996. Aaron Glenn has shown nothing that suggests a turnaround is realistic. Even his defenders struggle to identify a single area where he consistently excels as a head coach. I have no confidence in the Jets’ current leadership to draft and develop a quarterback, and I have no confidence that Aaron Glenn will ever win a playoff game as an NFL head coach let alone win 7 games in a regular season."
Yup….that’s looking at the last 25 fucking years. There are a couple of posters here who want to give Glenn a second season. For Glenn to actually succeed, he’d be one hell of an outlier. What the fuck have any of you guys seen from his performance this year that gives you ANY confidence he can do it? Outside of bullshit theoretical “he deserves another year because this roster sucks” argument that makes zero sense, what exactly is it that we can point to and say, ok, THAT’S what this is about…THAT is what we will do. What? Because I don’t see it. He took players that Salah made look good and in some cases very good and made them look unplayable. He chose a bad QB and somehow guided him to his worst season so that he too was unplayable. No one was asking for a lot of wins…but we did want to see competence and progress. We saw none of that. So please, let us know why we should have any hope at all with this loser of a coach?
Jermaine Johnson had some comments after the game. Reading between the lines, it was pretty clear he's not a Glenn fan but did everything possible to avoid saying it outright. I'm also reminded of hearing that part of the reason Quinnen increasingly pushed for a trade was because he didn't get along with Glenn.
Yeah, this isn't gonna work out. On a simpler note, a defensive coach former DB, just went a whole year without having an INT. Needs to be fired this morning.
Glenn makes Saleh look like Vince Lombardi… I’ve been watching the jets for a long time and I’ve never seen such a piss poor team. From top to bottom… they got no talent and no effort… they just go out there and get pounded and go home ok with it
Stefanski fired, 2 time coach of the year. I would take him 1000 times over Glenn. Raheem Morris fired, hell I would take him over Glenn too

I like Aaron Glenn, the man (and player).... Aaron Glenn, the coach... well it's been pretty brutal. The ONLY hope is that a "Tank" order came from above.... and yes, I also hope I win lotto when I throw away 2 bucks
You are not going to be able to get 40 good new players. In NE, Jax, Chicago, who were just as bad as us, they had some TO when new coaches came, but no one can and did get this number of new guaranteed good players. We've seen our players play better before. You cannot make the roster coach proof. Even Howie Roseman in Philly, who is probably the best GM roster builder in business, can't do that, which is why he fired SB Champion Pederson when he had one shitty year after making play-offs a year before. Yes, Pederson actually WON SB with Philly in 2017, made play-offs in 2018 and 2019, even won a play-off game, then had one year 2020 where his record was 4-11-1, and Roseman sent him packing. Worked out pretty well for Philly. But the point is, you can't make roster coach proof. Even yesterday when we needed a yard on a 4th down we lined up in shot gun, the commentators were asking why would we do that as that limits options and we are not a good passing team anyway. You can't can't make a roster coach proof. No one can, and no one will. You need a coach and we've seen even SB champions fired for less ineptitude than what Glenn has done this year.
I've come around to the school of thought that this Aaron Glenn thing isn't going to work out. I was a big fan of his as a player back in the day and he said a lot of good things when hired, plus he really wanted to be with the Jets so I was initially positive. However, the performance doesn't lie and the numbers on 2025 are historically bad, regardless of talent level. The smart thing to do would be to get someone competent in place now before all of these draft picks. The assets the Jets have will make this job more attractive than you'd think. The worst case scenario would be to keep him in place for 2026 and then try to replace him after another wasted year and right in the middle of a rebuild. Do we really want our young players (and most likely new QB) to have to adapt to a whole new system after one year and then also throw a bounty of new picks into the resultant mess?
Raheem certainly did a lot better than Glenn, went 8-9 for two seasons, but this is another guy who is defensive coach, who became a HC when his team (LA Rams) won with offense. Sure, I would take him over Glenn too, at this point Glenn is historically bad and pretty much everyone is an upgrade, but if Woody does fire Glenn I would not want Morris as a replacement. Stefanski is more promising. He did have some good success in 2023 and worked with Baker too. He may be able to develop a QB. Still last couple of years his offense was 31 and 32. Imagine, this is even worse than us... Not sure if he burnt out or what. When it comes to football coaches, you need to have short term memory. See Pederson example above, Belichick, and even Pete Carroll. But this would be something worth looking into.
