I think it's the typical attitude that you need to make a statement rather than just worrying about scoring. If I were coach and I had first and goal (even within the five) at least one of those calls has got to be a play-action pass every single series. That play is almost always open. Perhaps run it with with a quick roll out and give Favre at least two passing options.

Yes you can blame the OL in that situation, but if the D is keying on the run (and it has two at first and goal from inside the three) it makes it that much harder to open up holes - especially against quality DL like the Patriots.

The PI on Cotch hurt like crazy. Total momentum changer. No excuses for the horrible playcalling, though.

The number of times we were in 2nd and 3rd and long was embarrassing.

Agreed the playcalling was lacking. Too many screen plays. I would rather have two screen plays that each go for 10-15 (for the entire game) than to have what seemed like 8 passes behind the line of sgrimmage.

If I were the Jets why not take advantage of Favre, put 4 WR's in the pattern and throw the ball 15-20 yards down the field? You don't have to throw the ball 50 yards down the field to take advantage of his strong arm. Again this is another example of not taking advntage of personnel. I'm sure that the pressure on Favre forced him out of some of these types of plays, but it just seemed like the playcalling was not very aggressive out there.

It was terrible play calling. We know the front 7 of the Pats are great, so you're right. Why play to the opposing team's strengths?
