Yep sounds reasonable that the GBPs get the letter from BF & then arrange to trade him immediately. The downside of that theory is that why trade for him when he everybody knoows he will become a UFA & you can get him just for money?

well there is the chance that GB finds a partner to trade him to... so you want to ensure he is yours. then of course why risk that he changes his mind and goes somewhere else on you? just toss them a 5th round pick and take Farve off their hands and have him crush the hated pats...

for favre to play for any team, other then the packers, would be a big mistke on his part, imo. i think he should just find something else to do with his time.
let's face it, when you think of the packers, you think of bret favre.

Kinda like seeing Joe Montana in a KC Chiefs uniform. It just didn't look right.

I always think Lombardi and he went on to coach the Redskins for a year after retiring from the Pack.

Brilliant addition to the debate. I guess when you can't argue, you just revert to the personal attack.

Got two words for you bro...Dwayne Robertson

Almost everyone knew he was gonna get cut if not traded. He was traded because we Broncos wanted to be ensured they land him with a minimal giveaway. In Favre's case, no team is gonna offer anything higher than a 3rd. Infact, a 3rd would be to high aswell. 4th may sound reasonable. He is only going to play one more season if any. And if extremely lucky (pending injury) maybe 2 at the most. If I were a GM, I would'nt offer anything higher than a 5th rounder for a guy who's near 40 and will only play a yr assuming he can avoid an injury.

This rationale is notable for its utter absence of logic. While our WRs may not be "good enough" to "max out" BF's abilities, his leadership presence and skills will go a long way toward "maxing out" theirs which would generate a significant overall improvement in our passing game, and our running game as well as no defense will likely want to stack the box. I would love to see Favre close out his career as a Jet. BTW, other than Driver, none of the other Green Bay wideouts were considered anything special going into the start of last season. Favre, for the first time in years, made a special effort to work with his receivers and the results were both obvious and very impressive.

    Its a no-brainer........

Cmon Cotch & Coles do not strike fear into the others side defense. That is why they crowd the LOS because they know that Cotch & Coles cannot hurt them. Because of C & C lack of game breaking ability it also gums up our running game especially when noodle arm is QBing the team

Favre would be great as a Jet. Think about it, we have filled almost all our holes from last year.

LG, RT, NT, OLB: check, check, check, check.

We have the RB. We have the WR. We have the Defense. All we need is consistent play from our QB to make it to the next level.

    I'd give up a 1st for Favre.

Thank you. Very well said.

I am amazed at how many people try to pass off their subjective view points on this (and various other personnel related preferences) as being based on some sort of objectively based rationale.

Whatever the risks associated with signing a QB with Favre's rare and extraordinary talent are worth taking any day of the week. The guy thrives on the big stage, is a huge upgrade over anything we have and he gives us a much better chance to go all the way this year.

I'm still waiting to hear back from you regarding the tandems that Favre has played with that would be a better tandem than Coles & Cotch..

I don't remember that being problem in 06 when those two were named a top 5 tandem.

I've been trying to find the ESPN link and I can't.

An athlete cannot be "washed up" and still be considered one of the most talented in his field of endeavor. Which is it then?

While Favre may be considerably past his prime, he unquestionably remains a top QB by any measure and, as such, cannot be accurately labeled as washed up which, according to Merriam-Webster means, " no longer successful, skillful, popular, or needed, done for; having failed completely. .

    I don't think so........

No need wasting ur time searching since it appears ur HO & mine about C & C are on 2 different tracks. Also 06 is not 07 or 08 & I am sure they do not strike the fear in the other sides D that say Randy Moss does or other elite WRs do

Yet you can't answer who the better tandem Favre has played with in his career.
