I would crap my pants if I saw Favre in a Jets uniform. Easily one of my favorite players in NFL history. And he would make C&C look like Bruce and Holt during the Rams SB year. All this talk about Coles being one hit away from retirement is nonsense. If the team doctors thought that he never would have got the final 2 years on his contract guaranteed. He is one tough SOB.
Life goes full circle in a grand irony if Favre winds up here. I'm sure someone else already pointed out the Jets "you can't script it" angle, but I'm too lazy to read back. S-o-o-o-o, hey, Brett, what's that line from 'Pet Sematary' again? "Sometimes dead is bettah." There ya go.
Since I haven't been disappointed for 40 years like you have, I'm going to be optimistic and say Coles has a healthy season if Farve is the QB. Pennington, however will end another career of a Jet WR if he starts due to concussions.
Still ridiculous! The Jets have had 3 Wrs that have had concussion issues throughout their careers. All 3 played with different QBs with two of them having arms that would be considered strong. What all 3 did have in common though is they were all tough SOBs that would run through a wall to catch the ball. Coincidence? I think not..
Haha, touche'. How could you not love Bollywood though, the poor guy was running for his life more than standing still!
This is crazy. Unlike Strahan, Brett isn't cutout for T.V. I could see him comeback. I have never seen so much hype on a player. Although we've seen some magical QB's stick around on other teams a little longer than they should have so it's not unlikely. Oddsmakers Say Brett Favre Is Even Money to Stay Retired Posted Jul 3rd 2008 2:51PM by Michael David Smith Filed under: Packers, NFL Gambling Just because the calendar reads July doesn't mean you can't gamble on the NFL. As a result of yesterday's news rumor, the good folks at Bodog have updated their odds on whether Brett Favre will play again: What will Brett Favre do for the 2008 NFL Season? Stay Retired Even Rejoin Packers before the start of the season 3/2 Rejoin Packers after the start of the season 4/1 Play for another NFL team from Game 1 6/1 Play for another NFL after start of the season 14/1 I wouldn't totally rule out putting down some cash on those 14-1 odds that he plays for another team after the start of the season. If the report that Favre asked to be released is true, he could be thinking that maybe he'd like to wait things out and see if a quarterback on a Super Bowl contender gets hurt, and then he could ride in on his white horse and save the day. Still, my money is on stay retired. http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2008/07/03/oddsmakers-say-brett-favre-is-even-money-to-stay-retired/ Oh wait. Brett sees this he's definitely coming back. Brett Favre May Want To Wait a Year What happens to the "Madden Curse" for a retired player? Andrew weighs in the speculated return of the Madden cover star. by andrew (Contributor) July 03, 2008 John Madden is in love with the 2007 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year. But, it could be John's game that keeps Madden's beloved on the sidelines for at least another year. Tomorrow will mark the four month anniversary of Favre's "retirement". Over the past few days, rumors have spread that Mr. Sportsman of the Year has an interest in making a comeback. Is a four month "retirement" long enough to justify his return as a comeback? Or, can we justify it as a Sabbatical? Favre is the cover boy for the Madden NFL 09 video game being released on all three major gaming systems next month. (Including the Nintendo Wii, so maybe if Favre doesn't return this year, he may still be able to "scratch that itch") But, what about the "Madden Curse"? Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young was on the cover last season, and he threw for nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Marshall Faulk, Michael Vick, Ray Lewis, Donovan McNabb, and Shaun Alexander were also on the covers in previous years, but were injured or had terrible seasons the year they were on the cover. If Favre does return, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Packers trade him to a division rival, such as Minnesota, or better yet Chicago, and watch the "Madden Curse" develop into Favre's worst season of his career for his new team. But maybe, just maybe, Favre will return this year and prove to the nation that there is no "Madden Curse" and the seven-time NFL record holder is truly invincible. But, the road back to the NFL is going to be tough for the 38 year old. Comebacks have been done before at this age, but this situation seems a lot like lowering your shoulder into a ten-foot wave. It's going to hurt, you're not going to look good, but you will get through it. -YOUbeQB.com Side thought: What happens to the "Madden Curse" for a retired player? Will it increase Favre's golf score? http://bleacherreport.com/articles/34703-brett-favre-may-want-to-wait-a-year
Now that's not what Gore intended when he invented photoshop  That just sucks, I can't believe somebody thought they had a good idea with that. PFT: COOKS PRIVATELY SAYS FAVRE WANTS TO BE A PANTHER Posted by Mike Florio on July 3, 2008, 3:07 p.m. Agent Bus Cook has been yapping a lot over the past several months regarding the future of his star client, Brett Favre. Most recently, we heard that Cook had been telling people that Brett still wants to play. (Two days later, it was widely reported that Brett is telling people that Brett still wants to play.) We?re now hearing that Cook is privately saying that Favre wants to play for the . . . . drum roll, please . . . oh, wait, it?s in the headline . . . Carolina Panthers. We don?t know why Favre is eyeing Carolina. Maybe he thinks that it?s the best place for him to step in as the starter, notwithstanding the presence of Jake Delhomme, and have a chance to win. Or maybe Favre wants to play for a time that?s fairly close to his home in Mississippi ? and that will play three division road games in that same general area as well. Beyond the geography and a roster with the talent to compete in a wide-open NFC, Favre has no strong connections to the coaching staff. Favre never has been in the same organization as head coach John Fox. That said, the quarterbacks coach, Mike McCoy, was on the Packers? practice squad in 1995. Whether Favre plays again and whether he plays for anyone other than the Packers remains to be seen. But if he does play for anyone other than the Packers, his next team could be the Panthers. If the Panthers want him.
I was waiting for the "Bret Favre to the Jets" thread. This would be a move that would solve a lot of the Jets problems. Their QB situation is the team's biggest question mark. I'd have to stop Jets bashing if they signed Favre! So I bet they don't do it.
