OK, we have Keith Traylor, Zach Thomas, JT, Joey Porter and Vonnie Holliday are our oldest players on D, everyone els has 6 years or less of playing experience.

In the last two seasons we drafted on D

    Channing Crowder
    Matt Roth
    Travis Daniels
    Rod Wright
    Manny Wright
    Fred Evans
    Jason Allen

All of whom have already or will contribute, that leaves Yeremiah Bell, Renaldo Hill, Will Allen, Derek Pope and Andre' Goodman. Oh and whomever we draft this year. So Miami's D is aging because of 5 players?? Two of which are barely 30?? You need to get your facts in order.

BTW, Miami's D is better then either your O or D and Chad Pennington is a question mark every single season, every single sanp, so if the Jets can turn things around in one season no reason Miami can't, no matter how much you hate the idea.

    2005 ( culpepper) 6 tds, 12 INTs <--- before injury

conclusion: Culpepper - Moss = garbage

one of??? there are only 3 backs in the AFC east now that are set as starters...whos on buffalo?

Brown has not lived up to the #2 pick last year...Bush has this year

    T Jones, L. Maroney > R. Brown

Tomlinson and Gates are freaks at their position...having then on a team would make Herm Edwards look like an offensive God

Cameron isnt as good as you think

our team was plagued by injuries...the head coach didnt make us suck, losing about 7 or so starters at critical positions did...

all herm ever did was hold the offense back, could get us to the playoffs but nothing more

so we are NOT an example of what you think Miami will be next year

oh BTW, the Jets went 10-6 and made the playoffs, the phins went 6-10 and rounded out last...just in case you didnt know

First of all, you base your opinion of Daunte on 10 games and a triple ligament tear in his knee.

I base my opinion of Daunte on 70+ games, 3 probowls, 1 near MVP season, the highest completion% of any QB in the history of the NFL with a 100 or more starts, a 134 and 81 td/int, and career QB rating of over 90. Now would you like to see Chads? Believe me you don't.

Sometimes players get injured, sometimes very good players get injured. Like Edge for example, he came back from a very serious injury to run better then any back in the league, it happens, it's pasrt of the game. Look at Chad, how many times has he been injured? Yet he still returns and plays quite well. Look at Drew Brees, both him and Chad have much worse injuries then Daunte if you consider the position they play. Look at Carson Plamer or Donavan McNabb, injuries happen players heal and return and play. It just so happens Daunte tore 3 ligaments it takes longer to heal that kind of injury.

You keep wanting to base your opinion on Daunte as being washed up, all the other players I mentioned were also injured and they returned to play aswell or better then before their injuries. You then want to argue Daunte can't play anymore because of 6 games in 05 and 4 in 06, well lets be fair about 06 he just wasn't ready to return his knee just didn't respond in such a short time. Remember it had been less the 9 months since the tear. So lets focus on 05. here's what Daunte did in 05, keep in mind Daunte lost Randy Moss, Matt Birk and Scott Linehan in 05 Minn had the 28th ranked D and the 29th ranked rushing attack.

In 05, in 3 of his last 4 games before his injury, Daunte was: 67/94 for 830 yards 6 TD's and 2 int's.

Thats a 3-1 td to int rate and well over a 60 completion%. Now say what you like and believe what you want, but you're condeming him over speculation and mis-information and an injury. Fact is he's 10 x better then Chad, and that's not just because I'm a Dolphin fan. It's just Daunte's numbers if you look at them from a QB stand point are better then Brady's, Big Ben, Carson Palmer and the only one that's better is Peyton Manning...strictly looking at the numbers. Wins are more of a team stat.

So when you look at all the facts, Daunte had just 6 bad games in the last two season, and if you look closer, those 6 were with with a new OC and in Miami's case whole new team and OC. So now you have all the facts, it's up to you to determine what to do with them, but as you can see it's not like Daunte was in the exact same situation with the exact same players playing every game with the same schemes and OC and players around him. Every time you change OC or players or teams or playbook there is an adjustment that needs to be made, more so for the QB then any other position.

Daunte has hardly had a fair shot since 05 to play, much less prove himself. Out of the 32 games that have been played since the start of 05, he's played in just 10, you can't possibly look at his body of work pre injury and determine what he has become from just 10 games, 4 of which he wasn't even close to 100%. And lets not forget he's been rehabing since 05 getting healthy and listening to all the nay-sayers doubt him and ponder his demise.
And theres one more stat I didn't add to his numbers above, in 5 seasons he's rushed for over 2300 yards, hat's nearly 600 yards a season, now will his knee every recover enough for him to be as effective as he was before the injury?? Edge did it!

So to answer your question.....I think with Cam cameron in charge of the O and Daunte 100%, yeah, I think he's got a damn good shot at returning to his pre injury form. How about you do us a favor, instead of thinking about what he won't do, try telling us fin fans what you think he will do and what Miami's chances are if he does return to his previous ability. It's easy knock a guy when he's down isn't it??

now im not considered so much with the numbers, but i do know this

    Culpepper career completion % - 64.2% ( 85 games****) <-----

    Pennington career completion % - 65.1%

btw starts dont mean anything, its should be pass attempts

so if you cant even get one of your first "stats" right, why the hell should we even read the rest...I think we are basing our arguments on the fact that you have to spew phony stats out your ass to make it look like Culpepper is better then he really is

Culpeppers time in Minnesota shouldnt even count anymore, he had Moss...if you are going to play that game, would you like to see Pennington's stats from when he was at Marshal playing was Moss as well?

    my guess is no...

In 05, in 3 of his last 4 games before his injury, Daunte was: 67/94 for 830 yards 6 TD's and 2 int's. How about telling the whole story not just what you think makes Daunte look bad, as I staed in another post Daunte also lost Birk his center for his entire pro career and Linehan....do you think they don't matter and do also think there isn't an adjustment period. Stop being bias.

Oh so now Jones is a Jet and he's the best back in the division?? Ronnie wasn't selected #2 overall for nothing, he's bigger then Jones catches the ball better and has a higher YPC avg the last two season. Infact Ronnie has a better ypc AVG, then Larry Johnson. Ronnie Broke a finger this year mised 3 games and still had over a 1000 yards. Ronnie also did this beind one of the most inept offenses scoring in the last two season Jones got his numbers on a playoff team most of his career, oh and did I mention Ronnie much younger and he ran all over the Jets last year, care to guess how Jones did against the Dolphins D??? Nevermind, you don't want to know.

I see, so what you're saying is their talent alone won them all those games huh?? Well then I guess Mike Mularkey could have coached the Chargers to a 14-2 record with a rookie QB huh?? Guess who coached that rookie QB?? Guess who coached Drew Brees the TO machine into a fine QB?? Just because you hate the Dolphins doesn't mean everyone that joins the team sucks. I guess Mangini a genius...and Cam is just lucky, I wouldn't expect anything less from a division rival fan. I can't wait to see the Chargers go 14 -2 this year.

Hmmmm, lets see, QB...injured, RB injured, our entire Oline except RT was injured at some point last year. "All herm Ever did was hold the offense back"....gee ya know, that sounds a lot like Dave Wanstache....Oh, but wait, you're a Jet fan, you're entitled to excuses, I forgot.

Uh, yeah I know, but what does that have to do with the Daunte Culpepper or our "aging D" or Cam Cameron??

Sorry perhaps I should have made that a little more clear....I ment single season!! Daunte 69.2!! And BTW, Chad has thrown for nearly 10,000 yards less then Daunte, so you need to consider that. The Most TD's Chad's ever thrown for in a season is 22, Daunte has thrown for nearly twice that many in a season and BTW, Chads numbers are a little misleading because he's only played one full season once is his entire career and that was last year, the less passes you throw the less mistakes you make, Daunte has over a 1000 more passes then Chad.

You don't have to like what I write, but don't say things that aren't true and If you're going to voice an opinion about a team try to bring facts...not just part of the facts. Whats the point in lying to yourself, it serves no purpose. You can hate the Dolphins all you wish, but making things up or only telling half-truths is BS, and frankly you lose respect. I amy not be popular here, but I don't make up things or tell only half the story.

    wow you make me laugh

you arent popular here because you yourself are biased, you attempt to bring facts to the table, and then get called out, realizing they arent right...you backtrack...you mention nothing that has to do with my previous posts (when did i mention an aging D?)

ive checked your stats you bring to the table, so far it doesnt look good...

seriously, i hope you live somewhere other then Florida, or the East Coast for that matter, otherwise you may have to rethink some things if you are finding yourself up at nearly 3 AM just to pick fights on messageboards you arent even a regular or fan of...

First of all, It's "you're" not "your" and secondly, Daunte threw for almost 800 more yards, 17 more TD's, and Randy missed a lot of that season. Chad didn't even start but 12 games that year.

Daunte threw for over 3900 yards of which Randy only caught 767 of the 3900 and 11 of the 39 Td's. So now whats you excuse??

    1. Ok. Let's say Culpepper is all of the QB that you say he is. What makes you think he can return to pre-injury form? Believe it or not, after knee injury, no athelete is the athelete he was before the injury, Culpepper or not.

    2. I don't know how you base your opinion of the whole offense, but this is how I look at it: flashy play of RB, in-the-nick-of-time pass of QB and whatnot - if I were to point to one single (yet most important) factor in them, I say the OL. Culpepper can run all day if he wants to, or throw all day as well. Do the dolphins have sufficient protection to let that happen? How about running game - do they have good run blocking? Based on past few years, your OL hasn't impressed me at all. (Maybe they will be addressed this draft so I will leave it at that for now.)

    3. Culpepper is 10x better than Pennington... You are entitled to your opinion, so I will leave it at that. Just remember, you shouldn't base your judgment of Culpepper on one fluke season - which Pennington also had. (69.2% pass completion, 22-6 TD/Int - that's close to 4:1, mind you - and 102.x passer rating)

How many games has McNabb missed due to injury...quite a few, how about Chad?? Injuries are what they are and their part of the game. Besides, I've alsready addressed this in a previous post. As for why I think he will return, he's been out for almost two full seasons, he's a competetor he wants to succeed. Miami has the D, all we need is an O that can score, we don't have the be the Colts, we just need to be somewhere near the top 12, and we should be a serious playoff team. I don't think top 12 is asking too much. Hell we finished 06 ranked 20th with Joey Harrington and no Ricky Williams, I think we can improve 8 spots with the return of Daunte and Ricky.

I've addressed this point too, did you not read my post??

One fluke season?? AGAIN....three probowls, 27000 passing yards, over a 1000 more passes then Chad. I could go on and on and on. But the fact is Daunte's #'s dwarf Chads, it's that simple. It's not by any means a knock on Chad, it's just Daunte is not only physically more talented he's also a better NFL QB. Chads smart, very samrt, he just doesn't have the ability to saty on the field long enough. Gratnted, Daunte is coming back from an injury, but until the knee in 05 he played a lot of football, that's why his numbers are so much better then Chads.

    1. You're telling Scikotics to look at the man's whole career and not just a small stretch of games, and then you throw out this crap. I'm sure you could find many QB's who had a great 3 game stretch. This means nothing.

    2. You fail to mention that Thomas Jones was the entire Bears offense for most of the season. Their passing attack was just as inept and the Phins', yet Jones was still able to muscle out a 1200+ yard season. On a side note, many analysts say that Jones has some of the best hands of any back in the league. Even better than the great Ronnie Brown, #2 pick and all. Taking the scenario of Jones vs. the Dolphins D and Brown vs. the Jets D is retarded. You and I both know that the Phins had a good run D last season and the Jets' was poor.

If you're gonna compare the 2 of them, how about you compare them against the same D:

vs. NE- Brown: 39 yds. on 17 carries, 2.3 ypc; Jones: 99 yds. on 23 carries, 4.3 ypc
    vs. Buf-Brown: 70 yds. on 15 carries, 4.7 ypc; Jones: 110 yds. on 21 carries, 5.2 ypc

Please dude, if you're trying to say that Brown is a top 10 back in this league like Jones is than you're sadly mistaken. Maybe someday but not yet.

    3. You know who turned Brees around? Not your beloved Cameron, but our own Brian Schottenheimer, who was the QB coach at the time. You can be damn sure that he was the one developing Rivers during Brees' years of glory up until he went the the Jets last year. Thanks for helping to make this point though, and making it all the sweeter that he crapped in your guys' meal when you were all begging for him to be your coach after Saban walked away.

    4. How is this an excuse? Our offense, sans our running game because of the shambles that Herm and Bradway left it in, was vastly improved last year. The main problem was the lack of a running game due to said neglegence of the offensive line. It's a fact that Herm held back the offense, just look at what happened to KC this year.

Culpepper still hasn't proved that he's anything without Moss and Brown still hasn't proved anything in this league. That's a lot different than having the QB who led the team to the playoffs in 2 of his 3 years to that point go down along with our HOF RB who won the running title the previous year, our offensive line which was deemed one of the best in the league the previous year get decimated, and our all-pro DE get hurt among others. It doesn't compare man.

    5. His point is that rankings don't matter, it's the fact that you get the W at the end of the day. No one gives a shit if the Phins' D was ranked #5 because they still failed to make the playoffs. Hell, Oakland was ranked #3 in yards allowed per game.

I think the Bills could be an unpleasant surprise for all of us. The last three years we've generally written them off as 6-10 losers, but when each season came around they gave us fits, particularly head-to-head. There's enough on that Buffalo team to concern us all.

Miami has improved more than NY, but that's because they had a lot more room for improvement. Somehow the Pats, with precious little room for improvement, did better than anyone, on paper.

Whilst I like the Jets' pickups and acknowledge that the players just aren't available right now for the positions of need, I still feel a bit nauseous going into a season with Robertson as the entrenched NT, nobody at corner opposite Dyson and no player on either side of the ball to strike fear into the opponent. All of our division rivals have at least one of those: Taylor, Porter, Schobel, Evans, Brady, Thomas, Samuel...
