Recently, in the 2009 World Series, he referred to New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter as "Jerek Deter". Family Guy lampooned McCarver's broadcasting ability with the quip, "...well, at least he couldn't be any worse than Tim McCarver is at sportscasting".
"During Game 6 of the 1996 World Series at Yankee Stadium, a fan behind home plate held up a sign that said John 3:16. McCarver made mention of this sign, saying that the fan was a true Yankees fan because he knew Tommy John's career ERA. John's career ERA is actually 3.34, not 3.16. " I finally got some closure. I remember watching that game and heard McCarver call that fan a "true Yankees fan" for holding up the sign. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why, and it bothered me for years. Fuck him.
Game 3 coming up. Distracting on a football Saturday. Twins are about +170 tonight, despite having Duensing starting. He pitched well during the season. He started Game 1 of the ALDS last year after the Twins had to use their better pitchers in the final games of the regular season and in the one game playoff against Detroit.
If Minny fans are reeling from this series, wait for the post-script when the Jets kick Viking ass on Monday Night.
Very good performance from Hughes to close it out in 3. This is an advantage over the winner of Texas/Tampa Bay, of course.
wasn't sure why Girardi brought Wood into a 6-run game... especially since he's already appeared in the first two games. I thought it was a good chance to see Joba for the first time this series, or to bring in Robertson. Hopefully Logan can do his thing and it'll all be moot
yeah, a 6 run lead should give you the chance to avoid your top bullpen guys and give lesser arms some work. Odd decision.
...so you're trying to tell me that Andy Pettitte and Phil Hughes aren't the worst 2/3 combination in playoff history?
