It didn't help that every 5 minutes TB was knocking out receivers, I think if healthy we have enough to win with but we cannot afford a ton of injuries. TB has a very good secondary and should be a very good D overall.

you have to give tampa alot of credit. they were getting pressure and that secondary is pretty good. i think, when we look back at this game in a few weeks we might be surprised we were able to do anything against that defense.
lets see how the receivers look this week against a closer to average defense before we start to panick

    Brandon Lloyd

If we're actually looking to just win now, why not?
Lloyd has played well the last few years and for all those who would say he's too old the guy just turned 32 in July. So I'm of the mind that there's still some tread left on the tires.

That said I still hope we're in a position to draft Teddy in 2014 as I don't believe Geno is the answer even with his debut performance. Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but I believe it'll be Sanchez 2.0 having up and down performances with him showing just enough for the organization to want to stick with him. Thus resulting in 4 more years of inconsistent play at the QB position.

You can argue that, but gates at least brings special teams play, where as bray is simply a 4th or 5th receiver at this point. I would rather a young guy get a chance than an old retread take up playing time.

    NO! NO! NO!

Do not sign a castoff veteran. Screw Lloyd and Braylon. We are rebuilding. We need youth. If we need depth, sign a young kid who can develop and help us 2-5 years from now too. Bring back Rogers or White, sign someone off a practice squad, tryout some FAs.

Why can't the Jets use Braylon as a 6th receiver? Gates is gonna be solid for us. But having a vet like Braylon that can run routes and go up and make catches can't be dismissed.

    This!!

Can some people get it...we probably just beat a team that will be top 5 in defense this year. That's no small feat with a rookie QB. In fact, I don't think...as I look down the schedule, we'll face anything close to the caliber of Tampa's defense the rest of the season. ESPECIALLY against the run. Let's play a couple average defenses before we throw the "receivers out with the bath water." :)

I'm not worried about WRs. Once Holmes gets back in the mix and up to 100% again, we'll have that guy. Gates has actually improved his route running quite a bit. Hill has been solid and Spadola is a wild card. Kerley is good in the slot. I know you are looking for the Cotchery sideline type of WR to help close out games and 3rd downs, but Holmes is capable as is Hill. Gates would have had a really nice catch if not for that dastardly Revis!

i think gates will slowly get more time and be our best WR by years end. that kid can play.

we dont need scrubby cast offs like lloyd. and braylon edwards is trash. lets stick with these young guys and let them develop

Braylon looked exactly like a guy who does NOT belong in the NFL anymore during pre-season. He cannot get open. Period

That's a lie I seen Braylon get open a few times in preseason and he made some good catches.

Agree.. gates was open a few times. On the td to winslow he was actually wide open in the corner. Genos doing the best he can right now, and that also is a good secondary. I don't think they were that bad. I also wish they kept Edwards like the op said.

    Forget it, 1985er.

No use in trying to use facts to convince those who just don't want him back on the Jets.

Anyway, while it would be nice to re-sign him now that the contract won't be guaranteed, I'm not holding my breath.

Instead, I'm hoping that MM opens up the playbook a bit more to get Holmes involved because against New England, the JETS will need TOUCHDOWNS, Not FG's to win.

Gates needs to step up this week, as does Tone time, since Kerley is likely out with concussion.

Kerley is a slot machine. Hill needs more exp. gates is walking a thin line although they showed a play where he was clearly open but was genos 3rd read and he was being blitzed on every play. What about spadola? He is like 6 foot 2 and can catch or bring in rodgers off the practice squad. I say no to vets. They complain when they get double covered and still want the ball.

I don't want to put too much on Holmes plate so soon let him come along at his own pace. If Kerley is gonna be out then we definitely need to bring in a WR.

Dashon was clearly not playing the ball which the NFL does not want to see. DB's need to play the ball and that is why I felt they deserved every flag. It used to be a standard back in the day but with all the cases the NFL had to settle on. They gonna call it every time.
