Coming out of college he didn't look like much of a project outside of learning the playbook and blocking, which most rookies struggle with anyway. He was big TE with soft hands and a shitload of production at the college level. That's not exactly what I usually think of when someone says a "project". Not sure why he has the dropsies but based on his college performance I'm confident he'll get that sorted out.
Some of the glowing reports on Cooks and Lee might be more about beat writers who enjoy highlighting the good. Something the Jets have never had. As far as Amaro, if for whatever reason he can't get his head around the passing part of the playbook, maybe MM should keep in on the line blocking to work on that part of his game. Hell none of our TEs can block worth a shit so lets try and get one of them some blocking reps. It may pay off down the road?
I don't mean to sound pessimistic but nope. Calvin's hurt, Amaro's underwhelmed, McDougle's been alright, Saunders ok, Evans probably headed to IR... IK had the game sealing strip sack last night though.
I think Amaro's drops are probably a product of thinking too much on the field because he isn't comfortable in the system yet. Once he gets more comfortable, his hands should show up.
Red shirt? It's amazing how fan bases today just think guys will come in and immediately be dominant. There's a transition for these guys and many of them struggle to get through it. Amaro is a huge guy who has great catching ability. He needs time to develop in a pro offense. It's not every day when you get guys who are just absolute studs and have no problem with the transition into a pro style offense. We have a month until our first game. Give him time to figure it out man.
How about ESPN? http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/133858/camp-confidential-jacksonville-jaguars-5
I hear what you are saying and I agree. Oh yeah..by the way, Brandin Cooks scored a touchdown tonight.
I saw the game. He played with Henne and the first team who could barely complete the center to QB snap. He did not play when Bortles got in. Bortles looked really good and I mean surprisingly good. If that game was indicative of what's been happening in camp, I don't know how the Jags can justify starting Henne over Bortles. You can tell the fans want Bortles to start.
Can you say Kyle Brady? I'm not looking for the guy to dominate, but I do want him to be better than Bear Pascoe or Jake Ballard.
How about waiting until he goes up against other NFL players in live action rather than in camp against one of the worst D's in the league? I am in no way saying he is not going to be a good player but at this point it is just useless to try and judge where someones career may go. Let's wait and see how his knee holds up during the season and who comes down with the ball when he is going up against NFL DB's.
You wait. I'll keep doing what I want. There's reading into things and there's assuming one is judging where someone's career may go based on the fact the posted a couple of articles.
It was nice to see him lumbering down the field with the ball in PS week 1. I think he'll makes some plays for us this year and be a valuable asset to our offense.
