If either Mack or Barr were at #18 you take them and you don't look back (far and away BPA), but I don't think that'll happen. If not there are bigger needs.

We were bad at covering screens, dump offs, and TEs last year, and that is exactly were a QB will turn to in the face of a strong pass rush. It's kind of a catch 22. We draft a pass rusher to force the QB into a game plan we're even worse at covering. What's a GM to do?

Fix both. It may have to be done in stages, but you don't avoid doing one for fear that it will make the other worse. You fix what you can this year, then fix the rest of it next year.

    Or don't.

I would love a new LB or Two. But unless we are planning to shut out teams every game next year, we need to focus on the offensive side of the ball.

Idzik is going to go bpa. The odds of all 12 picks being spent on offense are slim and none. There is absolutely no reason NOT to take an OLB.

I tend to agree, though if both Barr and Evans fell it would be a tough choice, though chances are it would be one slides to let the other fall rather than both. Played that draft game a decent amount and it seems like Barr slid to #18 ~35% of the time. Obviously a simulator isn't going to be totally realistic but it's hard for him to go in the top 8 and I could see how it falls like dominos from 9-17 with teams just taking the best player at a position they want most.

Having Wilkerson and Barr on the same side of the field would have a similar impact as having Aldon Smith and Justin Smith on the same side of the field. It's the difference between having a good defense, and a feared defense.

Have to disagree regarding Coples....had he not had that foot injury early on - + the time it took to get his game shape back into form , he could have had a real good season...he came on strong late in the season, though the stats didn't show it - I watched him closely on many third down passing he was very disruptive. If he stays healthy, he'll have his best year.

we were tied for 11th in the league in sacks and had 2 guys in double digits as well as couples with 5 who could improve. i dont think pass rush was an issue to be honest. coverage was a major problem.

id much rather see us improve at safety and corner.
