Well, I guess you aren't reading all of the posts in this thread. Earlier a few of us figured out that when you get to the bottom of things MANGINI is the defensive coach. So calling for the firing of the defensive coach is calling for the firing of Mangini. But many posters to this board seem too timid to go that far.

I am also challenging the title of this thread, where someone posted:
"Are Jets players scared to tell Sutton def. scheme sucks?"

I am trying to be, as they say: "On topic."

I am sort of challenging the originator of this thread, or anyone else who agrees with it, the last time they challenged THEIR boss on how they run their company/corporation...

Too often people ask others to do things that they are too chicken-livered to do themselves. You know: "Why can't the Jets cornerback stand up to his coach and tell him what an incompetent idiot he is?"

When what they might be saying is: "I am too afraid to confront my own boss about how they are destroying the company I am working for, but I sure wish I could watch someone else do it!"

To me, the originator of this thread is a classic example of that. But I could be wrong! Since I am not as smart as most of you on this message board.

If I showed as much enthusiasm as this coaching staff at my job, I'd be walked right out of the building.

WTF are you guys talking about? Does anyone ever remember that we've won 8 games and are tied for first? Or has 2 losses erased all that?

Whats with all this short sightedness?

The Jets have had one of the worst pass defenses in the league the entire season. Is that just something we should accept and ignore because we have 8 wins and are tied for first?

Is it perfectly acceptable to you to have the 31st ranked pass defense in the league? Do you feel a team with that quality pass defense will be able to beat elite NFL passing attacks in the playoffs? Shouldn't we want a team that appears capable of winning a championship?

Why do you want everyone to bury there heads in the sand and ignore the problems this team has?

    You suck.

you are totally right on the jets pass D. It stinks-- it totally stinks--Lost in the Patriot win by the jets is the fact that cassell passed and ran the ball all night at will. The titans did the jets a huge favor by dropping several passes when they were wide open. EVEN IF we make the playoffs (a huge if) we are going nowhere with sutton sitting back and letting superstars like the 49ers QB (what's his name, again) pick the jets apart.

i hate how instead of blitzing, we bring in more DB (that suck) when we can't defend the pass. This never has worked for this Jets team. They get worse (at defending the pass and rushing the passer) every week

At least when you're ranked 31st in the league there is nowhere to go but up.

i fear these speed schools. What players do there only lasts for the combine and thats it. None of that increased speed carries over into the NFL. Its all combine based workouts to improve draft grade.

How do the professional GMs not know that?

Uuuum...or maybe the double think bullshit that goes on here makes no sense and no one seems to want to acknowledge it?

Who cares where our pass defense is ranked? Doesn't everyone here bitch about our offense every week despite the fact that we're top 5 in scoring points?

It's a fucking weakness that we've won 8 games with this year. The fact it's treated as some major mental knock on the team is just retarded. I realize that by year 3 we should have no weaknesses, but we do so you deal.

What burying heads am I asking for? I'm asking for common sense and rationality. Do you guys think a weeks worth of "ZOMG SKY FALLING!" threads is the way to fix this shit? Cause then it would be you that sucks.

Seriously...you'd swear here hope the Jets don't show up this week just to be right.

Nolan had a top 10 defense, so i wouln't mind him back.

I'd like Crennel only because he is better than Sutton... shit, i'm better than Sutton. We all are.

I wouldn't mind Marvis Lewis either. He was the Ravens 2000 DC and he can get his players to play for him and be fiery. He is my top chioce if he is let go.

is it so much to ask for improvements and adjustmens?

I don't agree with the sky is falling mentality either, but there is a clear hole that will be the downfall of this team in the playoffs if it does not gett better. Thats what people are looking for.

I think we can agree on that.

No...I ask for those two things all the time. I just don't think "scheme sucks" and "fire the coaching staff" are what I would label as "improvements and adjustments." call me crazy for that I guess.

The worst is that these same people calling for the coaches heads right now will hop right back on the bandwagon in good times. Thats what pisses me off. It's as if they grew up in some world where people were born great...lol...I'd love to see that fuckin place..must be nice.

Thats fair. But Sutton gone would be a huge improvment

Some do, some will never be happy. I like Mangini, but I'm a beliver in that a HC is only as good as his braintrust, and his braintrust is less to be desired. I personally don't trust either coordinator, but I feel if Mangini had a real veteran that he worked with all of his life like a Crennel things would be a lot better. Schotty I feel isn't going to stay long if his father returns to football.

But as of right now, if they look at the obvious and change it this team can return to contender status. And that's all I'm asking for.

I like Schotty. You don't get considered HC candidate worthy for nothing in this league. How many coordinators really get serious consideration? How many guys are even just randomly picked as good candidates?

Most Jets fans can't get their own heads out the grounds when it comes to this team.

I would like to see a change at defensive coordinator this offseason. Get Mike Nolan on the horn...

I don't think Schotty is the ONLY one to blame for our "offensive woes" and shouldn't get fired... it could just be a lack of execution on the part of our entire unit...

I would love to see Nolan in here. I think he's the kind of guy who could fit perfectly with this organization.

Plus, he might be able to do something with Gholston. Maybe bring him along like the Ravens did Suggs under him.

I dont think we have the 31st ranked pass defense because of Sutton or coaching. Every week we have multiple DBs (and LBs) getting burned AND making mental mistakes.

Revis is our only relighable cover guy. Thats our problem.

the Giants defense last year had a very suspect secondary. It was the hole in their defense... they remedied that by a fantastic pass rush which limited the QBs time to throw, and destroyed his rhythm, making the secondary look better than it actually was.

This secondary was good enough when the Jets were getting 4 sacks a game. Now they are figured out, so they suck. The DC needs to call non-pussy plays so that the QB is scared of this defense.... no QB in this league is scared of this defense.
