I really thought people knew about salary cap to some extent, but I was wrong. There goons that keep saying the same BS on this board about not signing big names.
It not to much about signing big names to me but about signing some good players. All rumors I hear so far are players not very good.
I agree with this completely....but I guess it's early. I want these areas addressed as I'm sure everybody else does. Safety and OL.
The Jets have many holes to fill and just signing Folk and Thomas won't get it done. They have had since the SB ended to plan out their game plan. Looking at their approach they will have to hit a home run on each draft pick highly unlikely. Tannenbaum really stunk it up last year in free agency with Burress and Mason. What happened to the days of Rex and Tanny waiting outside their guys house at 12:01 A.M.
Easy buddy! I'm just saying I don't want to go into this season with Hunter starting and with our safety situation the way it is. I think your use of goon really doesn't apply or make much sense here.
And Jarret Johnson just signed in SD. Are we looking at OLD free agents or are they hoping to strike gold with one of the rookies?
Johnson is old. We already signed Thomas back who would fit the same exact role as JJ. Why would we need both??
Between now and the end of preseason there will be plenty of upgrades for Hunter and Smith cut from other teams rosters. Relax.
Man, Sky isn't falling at all but I would like our safety and OL upgraded with decent talent....not asking too much. I not into sitting on the couch sundays watching our starting QB go down after Hunter allows the bills front to crush Mark.....I also don't relish the idea of our safeties watching the Pats TE's run by them.
It's literally less than 24 hours since free agency opened up. We will sign more guys, probably not in the next 4 seconds though.
I like how resigning our guys isn't considered important. When you don't have high cap room, you need to do due diligence before making a signing. I like this patient approach. Come August and we haven't made new signings, then we can go into panic mode.
The Draft is gonna determine how active we will be in the FA market. I also think that Scott's/ Hunter/ Holmes contract is holding us back a bit. If they could trade scott/hunter then we would be aggressive but nobody is interested in those 2. I do think Hunter can have success with Sparano, but we seen Scott under Ryans D and I think he is slowly declining. He should have a similar year to last, except will be pain free. The draft is gonna help us with our Dline, Oline, ST, and WR. We have a decent amount of picks this year. I dont want a safety in the 1st round, lets fix the trenches whether its RT, or a 3 down pass rusher.
They aren't doing nothing, they're just doing a good job of keeping it quiet for once. Jarrett Johnson just signed with San Diego, I'll bet they spent some time talking to his agent. I think mainly they're trying to get LaRon Landry to come visit them. I also have my fingers crossed for Levi Brown, he'd be a great addition to the offense. But, yea, don't confuse 'what the Jets are doing isn't in the news' for 'the jets are on vacation this week.' They might only have room to make one big addition, and they need more than one new starter, so they can't write the biggest checks this offseason.
The Jets are going to sit on their hands again in FA and we're going to have the "I ate ass face." lol In all seriousness, it's only been a day. I do fear the reports of the Pats looking closely at Landry and Mike Wallace.
For all of those who are concerned that we haven't done much. Look at the good team around the league and ask what have they done. Green Bay (nothing) Giants (signed thier own guy) New Orleans (lost their best guard and a wide receiver) Patriots (Nothing yet) Steelers (cut a bunch of aging vets) Houston (nothing) Baltimore (nothing) San Fran (own guys and randy moss) Obviously we have more holes than these teams so dont jump down my throat about that. I know we are not as talented as some of the teams mentioned but the point is you build through the draft, keeping your own talent, and with mid level free agents that fit your team and can play a key role.
