Walton was the Norv Turner of his time. He had a better talent base that had been coached up by Michaels and so his results were somewhat better but he had absolutely no feel for what it takes to win an important game. Walton and Herm Edwards are two sides of a coin. The first was a terrible motivator who coached like a technocrat and watched the clock like a hawk as it ticked down in yet another crucial Jet's loss. The second was a motivator who didn't even really know a clock was running during the game, especially at the end when it mattered most. Neither of them had any shot at all at a Super Bowl.
I remember hearing that too from Simms during the playoff game. Apparently the report was giant. If it was Mangina's copy then I don't think they could sue him. You can't copyright those things. That anecdote explained a lot, I'm surprised (and also not surprised) that it didn't get any play in the media.
Simms specifically mentioned that Pennington was surprised at how massive the report on him was. Belichick would not know that. I'll bet Chad let it slip out during the production meeting the night before the game.
It's amazing that the Jets did not sue to get that money back. In fact, it may be unprecented that a corporation would just shrug off a million dollars.

We will be sure to watch that law improve dramatically over the next couple years. In my opinion Herm Edwards and Eric Mangini are equal. Let?s face facts. Any idiot can come into a thread and call it dumb and be a nit about spelling and grammar. I acknowledged in the post the BB had the better resume. So if that is the only thing that you want to base it on then you?re an ass for posting in the first place, since I already acknowledged it. If you want to base it on other things like records in their initial year of coaching compared to the previous year. Or beating a more talented NE team on the road, in a stretch run for the playoffs or getting nominated for coach of the year and winning AFC coach of the year, then there are things that EM has accomplished that BB did not early on. Obviously, EM has gotten off to a better start than BBs train wreck in CLE, even after he had his first experience of coaching under a championship caliber coach in BP. He obviously had trouble assimilating his NYG experience to CLE. In addition, in his second crack he did not start off well either going 5-11 in 2000. And if it were not for Mo Lewis, then who knows? I know that it is early, but I have seen enough in Mangini to know that the guy is special. He gets it. He does the things that are necessary to win. My prediction is that this will be a growing problem for the Pats in the near future as he acquires the talent necessary to run his system the way he envisions it. You can disagree if you want, but I am going out on a limb and saying if I had a choice today, I'd pick EM over BB going forward.
not for nothing...but the team EM got here, and theone BB got saddled with are/were very diff. we had solid vets at a good many poisitions, and while we certainly werent belles of the ball, priding the AFC east CotY is sad at best....miami and buff did nothing, and the pats won the div. we showed the best as afar as 'getting better' goes. and thats why he got it. taking nothig from EM, hes a great guy, and im satisfied that out HC woahs will stop with him...but saying he MAY be better, rather then he IS better would have been smarter.
After straining to read through your spelling errors and chicken scratch, it makes your previous grammar spelling nits even more hypocritical and comical. He took over a 4-12 team with gaping holes that we are still trying to fill to this moment. Further, nobody predicted us to be better than 5 or 6 wins, so don't minimize what he accomplished so far. What is sad is that you don't even realize that there is no such thing as AFCE COTY. He was AFC COTY, and he was second to Payton league wide. I am not saying he may be. I am saying he is and you just don't realize it yet.

A universal fact is that a great QB make the Coach look great and vice versa. The only Great QB/HC combo was Walsh/Montana. Other than that, one makes the other look great.
