Jim Kelly ultimately played for Buffalo, and still lives there, so I'd cross him off. Elway and Eli moves were straight diva as well. At least they had the pedigree to do it though. Rosen was not even in the #1 overall conversation when he whined about it. He will be sitting there at #3 no doubt, I just hope the Jets don't bite. I think we will see a Rodgers like slide on draft day.
So a player can’t have a preference? Would it be the first time a player didn’t want to play for a specific team? Aren’t the Barkley fanatics high on him in part because he’s a Jets fan? New York or Cleveland....tough choice there. Cleveland is perennially terrible. The Giants are a stable franchise and the Jets have actually been to the playoffs. Who in their right mind would want to be drafted by the Browns given the alternatives? A kid whos a Browns fan or wants to stay in Ohio, that’s who.
If we were strictly looking at the eye test as the blueprint, then yes Allen would be casting central in the QB department. But Hackenberg passes the eyeball test too. There is just too many variables and then you can still blow it. The one thing never talked about is the system fit. Most of these guys are a square peg trying to round hole.
He's showing how he's the whiner in the group. I'll take the guys who are tough enough to take on Cleveland if they get selected there, over the guy who whines about something that was never going to happen anyway.
And what would the Jets have been like if they had been able to get Rodgers? The comparison to Rodgers is very apt for Rosen. His skill set is already so far beyond the others it's like he's been playing in the pros already. Yes, there is a risk given his injury history, but he can make the Jets winners Year 1 - that can't be said with as much assurance as the other prospects.
Rodgers also had an abrasive personality, which is a big reason he dropped. But he also obviously has a tremendous passion for football, and didn't have the concussion issues. Very different prospect. Rodgers one of the very few times a QB slid down in the first round of draft day for character issues and turned out great (Marino also). I'm not going to bank on that. His tape would have to be incredibly special for me to take that big a chance on a personality that hard to root for. His skill set is not 'so far beyond the others'. Guy couldn't even win a road game in a soft conference.
Taylor can make any throw? I’m gonna bow out here. Edit: all I had to do was google “Tyrod Taylor weaknesses” and an ESPN article with this was the first thing that came up: “But the 28-year-old dual threat, known as T-Mobile, isn't just divisive in Buffalo. He's also polarizing around the NFL, where he's become a Rorschach test for how we think about quarterbacks in 2017. Some coaches and experts are quick to rattle off his deficiencies: too short at 6-foot-1, too quick to leave the pocket, too limited as a passer.“ I guess I’m just making it up though.
Your bias against Rosen makes you blind. You have no idea how much passion Rosen has for football, but since he gave up a possible pro tennis career for football, and has endured numerous injuries, and still puts himself out there, I think that testifies to his "passion for football". And if you watched his tape with objectivity you would see him clearly better and further developed than any of the other guys. Finally, his "F**k You" attitude is built for NY.
Seriously? Like it's now about 1 guy being responsible for the effort and ability of the other 11? But somehow that same logic doesn't apply to Allen who you and the other Allen supporters make excuses for because of his "poor receivers and OL". BTW: Watch the tape of UCLA vs. Washington and tell me again how "soft" they are. LOL! Meanwhile Allen struggled against teams like well known "powerhouse" Hawaii.
Mayfield has the FU attitude for NY. Rosen has the Californian passive aggressive comments mixed with some complaining. His involvement in issues beyond football can also prove distracting. Football is a means to ends for Rosen, to cash in and set up his next career. That's what it's all about for him. His coach even questioned his passion and work ethic, which I can't really ever remember happening before. No matter how many red flags come out, you keep your head in sand to all of the risks, but call me blind. His tape is good, but does not blow me away enough to take on all these red flags. I think we are both pretty dug on on our opinion of him, and not much will change that at this point. if it makes you feel better, the fact that I dislike him so much almost certainly means the Jets will draft him haha
I agree we need to be consistent on team performance, and how the team around a guy could affect something.........whether that be stats or wins, etc.. Rosen took a beating in the Washington game, and a concussion. agree that was not a soft opponent.
Well it's clear that we won't agree, but that's okay. I think we CAN agree that we want a FQB for the Jets after all these decades. EDIT: And I DO agree that Mayfield also has that FU attitude and wouldn't cry if he was the pick.
We're talking being a punk diva for saying he doesn't want to play in a city. Kelly did it, ran to a different league to get out of Bufallo. That he eventually had no choice but to go doesn't change the fact that he acted like a punk. Eli went the consensus number 1. Rosen probably has had more people call him the best of the group than Eli ever did. And Eli isn't the best of his class I doubt if Rosen gets past the first three he makes it past the Bills or Fins. And they'll be the luckiest teams in the draft
My biggest fear is that we will take a QB just because we need one. Drafting a QB in the top of draft does not mean taking a FQB, as so many here phrase it. All of these guys have legitimate risks, and by trading up, the team is all in on this one pick. Can only hope it works out at this point, cause we are really screwed if it doesn't.
I would LOVE for the Bills to get Rosen. talk about a fish out of water in Buffalo, lol that would be very enjoyable to watch that trainwreck. I don't see the Buffalo fans taking to that attitude. He'd have to change for that to work out (like Kelly did to his credit)..
