Jones and Floyd have a combined 22 ABs against lefties this year. Neither of them are starting when a lefty is on the mound. You're being quite foolish about this, just be happy that Willie decided to concede this game before it even began.
That's the top of the ninth done, poor show offensively from the Cubs, this is always the problem - 7 innings without scoring is not good enough against a shadow side.
There's ample opportunities to rest guys during the season, and not all at the same time. Beltran had sat 1 game this year and Wright and Reyes hadn't sat any. Having them all sit down at once is just stupid. The lineup is strong enough to give each of those guys time off, but when none of them are playing and Alou is out with an injury and Easley is sitting too you get a minor league lineup and there's no reason that should ever happen with this team.
The Mets have 2 lefties coming up. Unless Willie puts up Reyes and Wright here it's the right move(there's a 0% chance he'll PH for either lefty)
