    Zambrano kills me again...

And then he slaps Michael Barrett in the face twice in the dugout!

So, 43-42 at the break, and we've come a long way! Just 4.5 games off of Milwaukee in the division and 4.0 from the wildcard (think that's San Diego right now).

Hard to be disappointed, but we really need to push on in the second half. We open with a 10-game homestand and anything less than 7 wins is not good enough. We really ought to be within one game of the Brewers before we play our next road game.

I think the Brewers will unravel like a cheap undershirt once August hits.

This NL central race will be interesting, the one thing that will hurt Milwaukee is that their ace pitcher is glass and currently on the DL. I do think it will go down to the wire though. One thing is for sure there is no way that the Cubbies will keep up this pace

the cubs are on a really hot streak but like you said, i think they will fade soon. they say sheets will be out for 4 weeks, but now we have yovanni gallardo starting again and that will be mixed in with appearances by manny para, another pitching prospect. if our starters can just pitch average, cause they have been sucking lately, i think we can pull it off

Eh I wouldn't go that far either they will cool off but they do have better pitching than your team does and while Gallardo and Para may be great prospects they are nowhere near as dependable as Sheets and Zambrano won't cool off, I think your team will have to pitch better than average to hold them off

i aint too high on the cubs pitching, their bullpen is crap and their starters to me are all average except zambrano. their lineup outside of soriano, lee, and rameriez doesnt scare me. of course everything i say is going to be biased based on my pure hatred of the scrubs but i think the brewers can outlast them and advance in the playoffs...

Honestly, I don't think the nation much cares about the Brewers one way or the other.

Heh, the Brewers. I'm more worried about the Cards right now. Once we pass Milwaukee they'll disappear in the rear view mirrors pretty quick.

Another Cubs win tonight, 5-1 since the break now, no signs of slowing. 12-1 over San Fran and we gave up that 1 in the 9th out of sympathy.

Heh, cheers. Dunno what a 'typical cubs fan' sounds like, but I've learned enough in the time that I've followed them to make the absolute most of it on the rare occasions we win a few games, because it doesn't happen often and it rarely lasts for long!!

Two road series wins this past week is more than acceptable and that gap is almost gone.

And now, on August 3rd, they have blown their lead.
