Heh, told you the good times wouldn't last. No shot at the playoffs now.

Yes, St Louis must be getting excited. Even though they suck too.

I said a long time ago that .500 would win the division and it looks likely to be true. At least the Cubs hit a little last night.

Cubs right-hander Carlos Zambrano has agreed to a five-year contact extension worth more than $90 million, FOXSports.com has learned.

Big Cubs Fan, Great to have one of the best pitchers today signed up for longer. He has been struggling in his last couple of appearences so mayby it was the contract negotiations which were getting in his head.

I dont think that its fair to write the Cubs off just yet, we are having struggles at the minute, but what team doesnt. Soriano will be back in a couple of weeks, Ramirez is back with us. Im not giving up hope yet.

Cubs win 2-1 agaisnt the Cardinals. Hill pitched a Gem of a game, throwing 7 innings of 1 run ball. Jones made a great catch in CF to keep the score level earlier in the game and then came through in the 6th inning with a 2 run shot after we had gone down 1-0 on a Pujols homer. Howry and Dempster pitched the 8th and 9th respectively.

Tied 1st for a few hours at least, and also means we kncked the Cards back to 3 games out after they have been surging.

    Brilliant stuff

Cubs alone in first now. Feels good.

No doubts that the ineptitude of the Brewers has been the difference lately.

Yer we got lucky that our bad patch coincided with the Brewers bad patch.

Anyone watching the Cubs/Cards at the minute? 0-0 going into 3rd

    Cubs win.

If we can just split the last two games of this series (or sweep) then that should open a sustainable gap up over the Cards, especially if Soriano can get back in a fortnight or so.

That game took a age, great to have a win and i really like ward so was really happy to see him hit the GS.

Got to think about Flloyd aswell, he had his dads funeral today, so best wishes for him.

With Zambrano and Lilly on the mound for the next 2 a sweep is not off the cards

Good win for the Cubs last night, still tied with Milwaukee who are beating up on Arizona right now. We play the Diamondbacks after this series is done.

Carlos Zambrano is sure looking like crap his past few starts, I feel better about him going against us in that series in Chicago next week.

Yeah, he's struggling, and likely won't get to 20 wins now.

It's a shame, but he's come through struggles to dominate in the past, and so long as he's able to get us to the playoffs and dominate once we're there, the losses now don't hurt, especially since we won that road series already. :)

3 of 4 from St Louis probably ends their chances, but man those Brewers aren't giving it up!

Looks like it could be an exciting finish!

Tie for first. This is one of the most exhilirating division races i have ever witnessed, it really is going to go down to the wire which would be good aslong as we came out on top. Going to be difficult but i think that this team has a lot of fight and can really do it.
