This is spot on...Its straight bullshit that Holmes hasnt mad a big deal about it, yet Cimini is implying what Holmes is most likely holding back. Obviously Tone is not happy with his production or number of targets but hes not dumb enough to jepordize winning by opening his mouth. Btw whats a "Shit Hemorrage"? ahah
I agree w/this as well. I could care less what Cimini is reporting and have moved on. But the larger issue is why a guy we re-signed to $45 million is not being utilized. Why is Keller not being utilized? Why is Burress not being utililzed? People talk about drafting a WR in 2012 to give Sanchez more weapons to utilitze.......but if he's not using what he has, why give him more? Yes -------------- we're talking about Schotty here again.
Ftr I meant to say Cimini never got around to making a clear case that Holmes is if you will actively unhappy, but at the same time I think we all agree he is almost certainly unhappy to some extent. How can he not be??? Anyway and forgetting about Cimini, why is Holmes not being better utilized? Some will say the simple answer is Schotty, but that is a simple answer for the simple minded, imo. My take on it starts with what Holmes said earlier. Even before that, let's recognize that for all the perception I to some extent share that he's not necessarily what one would call in conventional terms a team player, and has an ego to be sure, he in fact does care about the team and its performance. Holmes has rings, was an SB MVP, could have gone anywhere this past off season, and chose to stay with the Jets. No way he did so expecting the team would start out 2-3 and him not getting the ball. I also think Holmes is the most talented player on the team in an offensive skilled position. I expect all Jet fans agree with that. And we can safely assume not only that he understands the offense, but has as good an idea as any of the players what is right and wrong with it. And he's a captain. So what has he done to date? He complained about the performance of the OL. That tells me he sees the problems with the O as having started on the OL. Lack of pass blocking certainly is a problem for the passing game, but Holmes also understands that absence of a strong running game hurts the Jets' passing attack. Play action is undermined. Pressure on Sanchez from the pass rush goes up. But since he complained, and whatever causal connection there may be to his complaint, or not, the OL has played better. The running game improved. Sanchez in the most recent game, at least as it went on, seemed more comfortable. He had more time. Play action was more available. Right now, what is the outlook going forward? Holmes sees the improvement in the OL and that the Jets have won the last two games. I think he thinks that this should mean he starts getting targetted more, and will want to see if that happens. Of course Holmes as the best receiver will likely draw much attention from opposing D's, and he understands that. But I think he, as we fans do as well, will want to see if the Jets take advantage of that extra attention by finding and exploiting where the opponent is not covering other players. In short there's reason to think the Jets are in the process of fixing the problem, that this will lead to more wins, and more production from the passing game. That should also mean his own production will go up. And if none of that happens, Holmes will be unhappy. And so will we.
I think Newsday had an article today showing how Holmes had better production over the Jets' first seven games last year (including the four he was suspended for) than he has had all year. He probably isn't happy, but at least he isn't causing problems and calling out his teammates like he did to the offensive line. This is a non-story.
It's painfully obvious that Cimini was always picked last in gym class, and only played right field for half of the game in Little League.
