Look at the success Vince Young is having now that he's got his head on straight. Michael Vick is the best running quarterback to ever put on a uniform. Putting him in a west coast offense was one of the worst football decisions ever. Tim Tebow is a much more powerful guy than either of the two. You put the ball in his hands inside the five yard line, and he's going to run a few guys over and score. Vick and Young are scary players because they have the speed to get to the outside and take off or throw it. They have the ability to make broken plays look designed. Tebow is a scary player because he can hurt you in short yardage situations and in the redzone. He's the ultimate weapon if used the right way.
He'd definitely be great in short yardage/goal line situations but his arm strength and accuracy definitely scare me at the pro level. His arm is great for beating college defenses but I'm not convinced he's going to be as successful in the passing game against pro corners and safeties. Those rainbows he throws to wide open WRs and TEs aren't going to work at the next level. The problem that did in Vick and Young's earlier career is the same problem that has the potential to plague Tebow. At some point, he is going to have to throw the ball consistently to beat a team, especially in the playoffs. That's why I think he's going to do best in a wildcat offense. I see him being closer to a Brad Smith-type player with more power.
This is true. From a marketing standpoint, Tebow is a no-brainer to sell tickets. From a performance standpoint, I don't see him being much better than Garrard. He will need to sit and adjust for awhile (his mechanics are BAD. Footwork, wind-up like Leftwich, holds the ball WAY too low, only fair accuracy ) and I can see the 1st poor game Garrard has, resulting in the whole place clamoring for TE-BOW TE-BOW TE-BOW...... aside from the few Seminole fans :breakdance: You can't question his heart though.
I see what you guys are saying but I thought the same thing of Young. A bigger, stronger version of Vick who in college had alot of success throwing as well as running. He seemed to be the perfect all around QB. Am I wrong here? I mean, you get Vince out in the open, and he is big enough to bowl over a safety or corner at least if he tried. Unless you are saying Vince's size is to his disadvantage, I don't see him being any less than Tebow.
