Yup, new NFL scoring record (epic disaster). New NFL record for victories in a regular seasons (epic disaster). 8 Pro Bowlers and 5 All-Pros (epic disaster). 10 victories by a 3 TD margin or more (epic disaster). First team ever to outscore their opponents by 300 points over the course of a season (I think, epic disaster).

Where do the Jets go to sign up to be disastered? I want some of that.

They are on par with the great Dan Marino. Give me a break. This is going to be their 4th consecutive year without a Lombardi. Hardly a dynasty anymore. Hell, Pats fans used to laugh at Colts fans for the same kind of arguments you are making.

The 2007 Pats are the single bigest choke team in NFL history out shining the 68 Baltimore Colts. They will never live it down, never. The pro bowls the scoring records are all just big reminders of just how gutless a team the 07 Pats actually were.

Well, thanks. At least you're one fellow Scot that isn't saying I've got rocks in my head for walking away from Favre. Just a bad feeling I have about the whole thing and what it does to our locker room.

We did a great job this year bringing in great talent. We seem to have a defined course of action... we have a plan. We're implementing that plan and getting everyone on the same page. The team is jelling. Clemens and Chad are competing and working together and feeding off one another and... and then... oops!

Change of quarterback fellas! Sorry! Chad, Kellen, get off the field! Ainge, you're heading for the practice squad tomorrow! Coles, Cotchery... I don't want to hear you have better rapport with the other two... start catching Brett's passes. He's a God in Jerkwater, USA you know!

You, Bradway and Abyzmul are a riot. I think you guys could go on a 24/7 marathon and never stop for weeks! It's hysterical.

You are one of the hard core season ticket holders and long time fans. I just can't picture you on that first beautiful fall opening day when Brett Favre, Brett freaking Favre trots out onto the field in Jets Whites and steps in behind Mangold with Coles and Cotch split out wide and the rookie lined up at TE.

Brett Favre, Brett Freaking Favre. Rational meets delusional.

I can't let Bradway get away with sucking NE off, especially when their fans are always lurking and I can get a shot in.

I'm totally for sending Chad away and bringing in my all-time favorite athlete. HELL YEAH.

Look, he's old, battered and still light years ahead of Chad or Kellen. Put him behind a decent line, and he'll get some touchdowns.

I ultimately voted Yes, but your interminable obnoxiousness about this question only makes you look bad, not everyone else. And I'll bet I understand randomness and probability at least as well as you do.

A year ago, no one in their right mind would ever make this deal, as Favre was coming off two awful years. He had a very nice year last year, but it was arguably his best one in 10 years. It is certainly open to question whether he'll have another year like that during a season in which he turns 39. While I have NO problem taking the reins from Penny, the fact is that making this deal would pretty much mean that the coaching staff has decided that Clemens isn't the answer either. Since neither you nor I is a member of that staff, we really don't know if that's a fair assessment or not.

The problem is, Chad can gel all he likes with anything or anyone, and he still limits this offense to small ball. Kellan can go down field, but he's still a bit too wet behind the ears. He may never be a starter, in fact, by everything we've seen.

Brett can throw, and think (most of the time) so it's an immediate upgrade.

What if Kellan sits and watches Brett play and learns from him? It's still better than learning from Chad. Chad is a one trick pony, and quite frankly it's exclusive to his style, mechanics and physique. Learning the wrong way is worse than never learning.

Trade Chad + 7th for Favre. Let noodle arm backup Aaron Rodgers; Kellen can marinate and grow under Favre's wing.

    Hahahahahahahaaaa.....

I have NEVER split my fucking sides as much as you've ruptured mine in this post. Thanks a lot... I'm on my way to the fucking hospital over this.

Picture this though... I WILL be there in my Section on that day, surgical stitches be damned and even if they have to wheel me into the seat with attendants to hold the freaking IV bag, and I'll love watching Brett Freaking Favre take that first snap.

"You go Favre." Damn... interception. Well, no problem. He'll figure out the playbook sooner or later.... Cotchery was open but... what the hell.....

    LMAO man.....

Good point. I don't know why people act like signing Favre would be some sort of statement on Clemens other than "He's not ready YET." It may not be the standard way to go, but Clemens sitting for another two years (and learning from Brett Favre) certainly wouldn't be the end of the world. Hell, it may be exactly what KC needs at this point.

This is never my kind of deal (high draft picks for veterans), but I think in this case it's worth it. It shouldn't cost more than a 2nd rounder. Go for it.

The bottom line is, to answer the poll with any real conviction, I would need to KNOW what we would be giving up. Despite the fact that Brett Favre would be an immediate (and drastic) upgrade over either Noodle arm or Kellen, it is not clear to me that giving up multiple draft picks (a near certainty in this case) for a 38 year old qb at the tail end of his career is in the team's best interest. If they have to give up a 1st rounder, then the deal is OUT OF THE QUESTION. However, something like a 2nd and a 4th would be much more reasonable and would be something I would seriously consider. I voted yes on the poll but must caution that my vote is ENTIRELY based on the assumption that they would not be giving up more than a few mid level draft picks AT THE VERY MOST.

He's better than any QB on the roster. By far. So what if Clemens has to wait another two seasons.

Just to add to my previous post, my guess based on the precedent set by all the NFL trades I can remember (there aren't many trades in the NFL it's a little tricky), is that they would have to give up a 2nd round draft pick to get him. IF that is the case, then my vote is yes. If you ask me, there is nothing wrong with Kellen sitting for another year or two and Chad needs a change of scenery.

Yeah, I completely agree. The only hesitation I have is giving up draft picks for a 38 year old player at the TAIL END of his career who plays the "I'm thinking of retiring game" every offseason. Assuming that we would only have to give up a 2nd rounder, I would say go for it. But anything more than that and I think I would pass.

I agree with everything you wrote.

If Favre were to agree to a trade to the Jets, I'd prefer the Jets to trade away one pick and one veteran as opposed to two picks.

Al Harris will be 34 in December.
Charles Woodson will be 32 in October.

Behind them on the depth chart is a rookie named Patrick Lee (drafted in 2nd round). The other backups are nothing special (Tramon Williams, Will Blackmon, and Jarrett Bush).

I was never for Justin Miller. I disliked that selection. He certainly has not delivered from scrimmage. Very good return man, though.

Green Bay uses a bump-and-run scheme. From that standpoint, Miller would seem to be a better fit in GB than in NY. He could play the nickel this year and take over for Harris in 2009.
