Alright, I agree. Yeah, I'm wanting to know also what (if any) we get for him. We've already got a 4th Round coming our way from the Foreskins for Pete Kendall, no?

Yeah--and I've been thinking Drew Coleman should be starting ahead of Ty Law.

Actually, I don't know the compesation, either. I am thinking it was a 4th rounder which could elevate to a third??????

We are going to get nothing for him. Compensation was based on the percentage of plays that he plays in, and it was widely expected that his PT would be manipulated to get us nothing. At best, it will be a 7th. Forget about it.

I think our draft status is that we get an extra 4th for Kendall. If Vilma signs with NO, we get a second and give our 4th, and we give our second for Favre assuming we make the playoffs but do not win the SB. The net of all that would be one pick in each round.

He has started all but 1 game.

    17 tackles and .5 sack

The compensation to the Jets is a conditional 2009 draft choice, believed to be a midround pick, dependent upon Robertson's playing time.

He's low cost - the Broncos owe the Jets no draft-pick compensation if Robertson plays fewer than 65 percent of Denver's defensive snaps next season.

    TRANSACTIONS:

    Numbers game

Just before the draft, the Broncos retooled the final two years of Dewayne Robertson's contract and tacked on an extra four-year extension through 2013. The revised deal:

$900,000 annual salary for the 2008 and '09 seasons.

    $3 million roster bonus.

$4 million is what the contract counts against the Broncos' '08 salary cap.

$11 million in playing-time incentives he could earn in 2009, which means the contract could max out at $35 million over six years.

65% of the defensive snaps is the threshold for determining what compensation the Broncos owe the Jets. If Robertson plays fewer than that in 2008, the Jets get nothing. The cost becomes a fifth-rounder if he plays 65 percent to 70 percent of the snaps, a third-rounder if he plays 70 percent to 80 percent, and a second-rounder if he's on the field more than 80 percent of the time.

Looks like he played some but withoput a play by play it's hard to say how much he's been on the field.

He has played in 10 games but I have no idea on how many plays he has been in on. The nature of his position probably indicates that it certainly wasn't all of them.

Good info. If you do some quick math you can see that Drob averages 3.14 tackles per game in his career, yet this year he is only averaging 1.70. Based on this you can assume one of three things:

    1. he is not getting much playing time
    2. the scheme is different and skews his former stats
    3. he is playing a lot but he sucks.

Could easily be any one of the above, but let's hope that it is 3.

Yeah, that'd be nice. It would seem like 65% is an attainable threshold, but we're not going to know the numbers until later. One would think the Broncos are giving him the snaps if they want to be competitive this year, so maybe we'll at least get SOMETHING for him.

    DeWayne Robertson: Started/Played 10 games. 17 tackles.
Marcus Thomas (starts opposite DR): Played/Started all 11 games. 25 tackles.
Josh Shaw: Played 4 games, started 0. 2 tackles.
Kenny Peterson: Played 11 games, Started 1 (when D-Rob didn't play): 20 tackles, 3 sacks.
Nic Clemons: Played 6 games, started 0. 8 tackles.

So that's all of the active defensive tackles on the Broncos. If I recall, last year they were using occasional formations with 3 or 4 defensive ends, I don't know if that's the case this year).

It looks like Peterson is definitely in the mix, with Clemons and Shaw getting some rare playing time.

However, I think it looks real promising. If Robertson has been on the field for two-thirds of the ten games he's started, we're getting compensated!

This will be a good thing to watch on Sunday. Watch Robertson's rotation with Peterson. Again, in a perfect world, I'm sure Shanahan would've done everything in his power to keep Robertson off the field for more than a third of the time. But with his team making a playoff run and their defense in dire need of run-stoppers, no coach in the NFL would hold the best player out just because it might cost him a fifth round pick.

I think the stipulation of the Favre trade is that we appear in the SB. We don't have to win that game to give up a 1st.

OK, I'm getting ahead of myself here, but let's take at look at our 2009 draft picks. I'm going to go ahead and assume that we win the Super Bowl. I'm also going to assume that Jonathan Vilma played 85% of the snaps for the Saints and they chose to reward him with a fat new contract (GO JV!). I'm also going to assume that DeWayne Robertson gets off his fat fucking ass and earns us a draft pick!

    Round 1: Zero picks! Woo-hoo!
Round 2: 2 picks. (Ours and the Saints)
    Round 3: 1 pick. (Ours)
Round 4: 2 picks. (Ours and the Redskins)
Round 5: 2 picks. (Ours and the Broncos)
    Round 6: 1 pick. (Ours)
    Round 7: 1 pick. (Ours)

    Shit boys: we rich.

take out our 4th rounder. i'm pretty sure if the saints resign vilma, we get their 2nd in exchange for our 4th.

    still not too shabby...

That doesn't sound right to me. You have a source for that?

9-10 draft picks for Tanny? I see a pro-bowler, a 7 year starter, and 4 backups/role players that are capable of filling in at any moment.

Kinda like the 06 draft. The one that laid the foundation for this team.

i'll try to find something official but my "source" is just what i've read on this board.

on a slightly off topic note, i just thought of something:

assume i am correct that we give up our fourth if the saints resign vilma.
    assume the saints resign vilma.
now assume that favre didn't play in 50 percent of the snaps this year which would have meant our compensation to the packers would have been a fourth round pick.

what happens then? we've essentially traded our fourth to two different teams.....
