The Jets traded down Sunday to take Lowery when they dealt their fourth-round pick (No. 102) to the Packers for Green Bay's fourth- (No. 113) - New York's original pick - and fifth-round (No. 162) selections. New York traded the 113th pick, along with its second-round pick, for Green Bay's first-round selection Saturday. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/2008-04-27-2988675610_x.htm We still have not recieved anything from the Saints. We traded that 4th round pick to the Packers to get Dustin Keller. Then we traded back in the 4th round to get an extra 5th round pick.
From Cimini's blog 2/29/08: "Item No. 2: The compensation in the Jon Vilma trade to the Saints has been widely reported inaccurately. Here?s the real deal: The Jets will receive a fourth-round pick from the Saints in the upcoming draft. If Vilma achieves playing-time incentives and signs an extension with the Saints, the Jets would receive a second- or third-round pick in 2009. In that case, the Jets would send their fourth-rounder in ?09 to the Saints so they could recoup this year?s fourth rounder." Ive now seen every single site that refers to draft compensation saying the jets got the saints 4th rounder. Here's how I can best figure out the quote you gave. We originally had two 4th rounders. Ours (102) and the Saints (114). On day one, we traded 114 and our 2nd to the Pack for their 1st to get Keller. Now, we are left with our original 4th (102). Then, we trade our 4th (102) to the Pack to again get 114 and their 5th. The quote you give only makes sense if we had two 4th rounders to begin with, which we did cause we got it for Vilma...
I'd say he is. He should be in the running for Executive of the Year with the fact that he hit on so many draft picks in his 3 years and his near perfect FA signings this year. The only thing that would not guarantee this is Gholston's slow progression.
From Cimini's article in yesterday's Daily News: "On Sunday, THE Jets face former NT Dewayne Robertson, who has started 10 of 11 games for the Broncos. After acquiring Kris Jenkins from the Panthers, the Jets traded Robertson for a conditional 2009 draft pick, but that selection will turn out to be a big zero. For the Jets to receive the minimum compensation, a fifth-rounder, Robertson must participate in at least 65% of the Broncos' defensive plays - and there's virtually no chance of that happening. The former first-round pick, whose trade value was diminished by a chronic knee condition, has 26 tackles (13th on the team), with a half-sack..." no % of snaps given but he seems pretty confident this will just turn into a salary dump...
You give him way too much credit for FA signings. The credit goes to Johnson as much as I can't stomach him. All Tannenbaum does is ask "Can I?". The same with the trades, especially for Favre.
General consensus is that, we are not going to get a damn thing from Dslob trade. What a waste. 2 1st rd picks for THIS? Damn!
Honestly, Cimini's "Brett Favre got knocked on his ass by Cortland Finnegan on the Wildcat play" story eliminated all of his credibility in my book. You cover the Jets but don't watch the games? Yeesh. I'll take his "confidence" as an assurance that D-Rob has played 80% of the snaps.
Understanding why you ever liked the guy isn't nearly as confusing as to what Boobway saw that inspired him to give up 2 first rounders...
Combine bro. He shot up everybody's boards after an amazing combine performance. It's okay though, Jenkins has made me completely forget DSlob even exists.
Giving up 2 1st rounders for this guy was one of the biggest wastes ever. Basically he was a combine/workout warrior that flew up to the top 5
It'd be worth it. The odds on us getting to a super bowl without Favre were basically zero and if it costs us a first to get there it's worth it.
