Chris Harris out for the AFC Championship: https://twitter.com/bylindsayhjones/status/422777480567459840
Brady can end the debate this Sunday. He is taking a team that was MUCH inferior heading into the season, into Denver. If Peyton loses the game, how can anyone say he is better? I know I cant. No excuses either, the bottom line is the Broncos and Peyton have to put up more points than the Patriots do. If the Patriots score 49, then he has to put 50.
I think the Patriots will have a gameplan for a run-heavy offense. Last game they had Gronkowski which helped in the comeback, without Gronkowski I dont think they could pull another comeback like that.
Lets see what happens first. It's not Brady vs Peyton anyways. Its Brady vs the Denver D and vice versa. If anything Belichick has had Peyton's number not Brady.
True, true, but IMO Peyton had the much better team coming into the season, this game is in Denver, idk. This Patriot team isnt that good either, the fact they are where they are is remarkable. Just thinking back to week 2 and just how bad they looked, and now they are here.
The home team between Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in the playoffs has won all 3 previous matchups and then the Superbowl. NE in 03/04, IND in 06. That streak says Denver wins the Superbowl this year.
People tend to look at teams in terms of strengths/weaknesses in the fantasy football positions. Denver certainly has better WR's, a better TE only now that Gronk is out, and fairly even or a slight edge to NE at RB. However, I'd say NE's defense is much better than Denver's, and has been the reason they've been able to overcome a lot of close games this year. The NE D vastly outplayed Indy's D last week, and was really the difference of the game. So I'd say the matchup is overall fairly close, with the home field favoring Denver obviously. It will take a complete team win for either team to get it done. The Manning vs Brady, and their past histories, really doesn't factor into next weeks game other than interesting fodder for sports shows and debates.
Graham is a tight end in name only, like Dallas Clark was. He's really a wide receiver. The Saints want to pretend he's a tight end for contract negotiations (and for possible franchise tags, etc.). My prediction is that the NFC winner beats the AFC winner, because the two best teams in the NFL are playing in the NFC Championship Game.
So there are 4 teams playing next weekend. I will pick my SB winner based on all possible results next week. 49ers at Pats - 49ers wins SB 49ers at Broncos - 49ers wins SB Seattle at Pats - Pats wins SB Seattle at Broncos - Seattle wins SB
The Pats found some nice matchups in the Bronco secondary last time around. I look for them to come out throwing much more than Sunday, looking to play from ahead.
Okay, if you don't remember 1994 it would be much less of an issue. The only worst possible NFC team playing in a Super Bowl in the Jets stadium would be the Giants. To understand my disgust, imagine if Ryan doesn't win with the Jets and then gets to the Super Bowl as head coach of a different team. It would sting.
Yeah, I knew he coached the Jets (try to study their history) but I never knew the specifics or anything about it. I just knew he once did it and it was considered a "failure". Oh and I definitely see your point of view. I really don't like any of the remaining teams, so I'll take NFC over AFC in this scenario. There are very few AFC teams I'm okay with winning the SB and those are usually a year to year thing. The only recent AFC winner I was okay with was Baltimore, but that's just because Ed Reed has been my favorite non Jets player.
I was a big John Elway fan. Except for the post-Elway Shanahan teams and the McDaniels era, I have liked the Broncos. I will have no problem with the 49ers or Broncos winning.
I just don't like the idea in my head of Denver signing PM and then winning a SB soon after. It feels kind of like cheating after what the Jets have been through  No young QB developing or anything. It's also why, I didn't want IND to win the whole thing (but wanted them to win over NE), because it would be unfair in my mind for them to stink for one year and then just have a bunch of success. Things have just lined up so well for them the past decade. One losing season I think and after that losing season, back to back playoff appearances Overall, it's not anything specific, just me being annoyed at the luck/fortune for those teams than disliking the team for a specific reason
Whats even worse is I am 100% positive Peyton Manning does not go to Denver if Tim Tebow did not turn that team around. Manning was able to view Denver as at least a playoff team, if that 1-4 team continued its slide it was probably going to end up a 3-13 team. Manning would not have joined that mess. I dont think he ever would have joined the Dolphins, but I think he would have joined the Titans who were in the final 2 for the running. Better yet, perhaps if the Jets had beaten the Broncos that season and they failed to make the playoffs, Peyton never even considers them. Coming into it, Denver was the least favorite to land him but Elway was able to convince him and I dont think he is able to convince him if that team is not in the playoffs beating the Steelers.
I never disliked Denver as a kid but that 1998 loss stung and I have hated them ever since. I can't root for them, we have an all time great matchup w/ the 2 QBs Sunday and I probably won't be able to enjoy it b/c I will be rooting for both to lose.
