Not necessarily, you never know what making a change can do. Whether it being the FA excelling from being given a second chance, or nuge getting a change in mentality from seeing that someone else may replace him that allows him to easily beat out the FA and start making his kicks perfectly. But lets not go down that road, I expect nuge to rebound and make his kicks next week. Hopefully it won't come to having to look to FA.
Nugent always looks nervous. He did last season, and he does this season. He's got some bug in his head that he did not have in college. He's got skills, but that's not good enough. Plus, he's in NY, and the media is gonna have a field day with him. The question is can he fix his head... and soon?
If there was a better opinion it would be taken. Its 1 game if he sucks next week then we have a problem. I joked earlier that we should pick up brien but he is starting to look better then alot of those other guys.
Sigh. Nugent will be fine. And even if he kicks 70% the rest of the year, he'll still be better than a guy like Cortez or Gramatica.
I still think Nugent will end up being a pretty solid kicker... but he is a complete bimbo and will be subject to slump games like this.
Nugent needs to work on his leg strength and perhaps his confidence was slightly dinged today but otherwise I think he will grow into a solid kicker....however if you saw the look on Mangini's face after the missed FG he better work on the above two sooner rather than later......
Mike Nugent had me in a scary state of mind during that game ... a very scary state of mind I had some bad ideas flashing through my brain ... awful ideas ... Travis Bickle ideas I Just kept repeating in my head, as if I was speaking to Nugent ... LISTEN YOU @#$&, YOU SCREW HEAD ... HERE IS A MAN WHO WOULD NOT TAKE IT ANYMORE ... HERE IS ... If he missed one more kick I was shaving a mohawk ... then all bets were off
I'm seriously worried by Nooge. I mean if you are going to screw up you don't do it game 1 , he should have been so pumped and focused that that should not have happened. Maybe some competition will get his ass back in the saddle. I heard the interview he gave after the game last night and hes a stand up guy who didn't shirk the media. He mentioned his misses and said he knew what was wrong and would put it right and praised the rest of the team because he knows they got him out of a hole. That interview calmed me a bit but I still maintain that a quality kicker would not have missed so many points this early into the season.
I can't believe a guy could suddenly develop mechanical issues in the warmup, that's just bizarre. If he's kicking the turf, should he not have been on the sideline trying different ways to plant his standing foot to ensure a smooth swing? I was very disappointed in his performance.
I don't have the numbers, but cutting a second round pick in the second year would have negative salary cap implications.
is seriously a thread...people get off the ledge nothing is as good or as bad you make it out to be this shouldn't even be a thought a bad game does not a player make. I'm almost scared to see the threads if we beat the pats...it'll be superbowl or bust here...one game on day is just that...one game...like mangini says him self lets use the 5 sec rule...5 seconds to enjoy or be down about something and MOVE ON!
