Do you think they might consider the total situation? Coles was out and Cotch had just gone up to make a catch in the endzone and came down right on his hand with the broken finger and was in pain. So no Coles and no Cotch a third and 10 from the 20 in the rain with 3 timeouts and 100% of the coaches are going to go for the 4th and 10 rather than make it a 2 point game? I might have gone for the 4th and 10 but with no WR to throw the ball to it makes this far from a dumb move.

Playing against one of the top offenses in the league, and the #32 defense, relying on your D to win the game is ridiculous

We didn't have a WR to throw a 10 yard completion to. Cotch went down on the second play from the 20 when he dropped the pass that would have won us the game.

I didn't mind the field goal, but I would have liked to see them kick it deep the next time. I would not have gone for the first down there, not with the way we've played on offense this season. I know we were playing better, but not the previous 3 downs.

But Mangini has a desperate team, so he went aggressively to try to give his team a few chances at getting the ball and making his team happy. Hey, we're 3-10 now, let the hands team get aggressive and try to get the ball back.

I understand what you are saying and I understand what winston wrote just above your post. However, to kick a FG to make the score Browns 17, Jets 15 with 1:43 on the clock, it is asking an awful lot to come back and win that game.
I wanted the Jets to try to convert a 1st down even if it meant Smith, McCareins, and Washington would be the WRs on the play.

I think, like was said during the game, that Coles and Cotch playing hurt like they did is a good indication that Mangini has at least kept the team "up." If only that worked for us fans. I certainly think Mangini should get at least another year but a change of coordinator(s) might be in order.

Exactly. They were 2 for 12 on 3rd down. What makes anyone think they had a shot at making 4th and 10?

That tells me that the players care more than the coaches. I think the coordinators are the worst in the league. I like Mangini because what ever he is preaching, the players seem to be listening, but the coordinators are just awful. Bring in some experienced coordinators and see the talent of the team rise. If they could somehow bring in Alex Gibbs for the O line it would do wonders, one of the ryan brothers, and maybe Norv after he gets fired this year.
