McElroni will never be a full time starter in the NFL unless a starter gets injured and a team is forced to put him in, a la Brooks Bollinger. And then he will fail. Total noodle arm. But hey, Rex called him the smartest guy on the team. No Rhodes Scholar Candidate, but he's very smart.
please stop confusing the el taco lovers with facts. whether you compare their college stats or pro stats , the turnover machine grades out lower.:metal:
Wish I was an NFL Coach with a few young quarterbacks, with tremendous upsides and enthusiasm, drooling for the chance to be the starter for a storied franchise...
notice how they never mention head to head performance in the Arizona regular season game? the $30 million mistake from the first round gets out-played the the 7th round guy at less than 10% of the cost! let's also mention that brady was 6th round, and cruz and chrebet were not even drafted.....el taco wouldn't even be on the roster if not for the cap hit!
To say play Mclroy only cause sanchez is bad does not mean mac is any good. He talked about the "Locker room issue" when he should have kept his mouth shut. He played horrid that last game. He is not a NFL QB.
it's another example of why it has been 44 years without a super bowl appearance, let alone a victory. cut a guy like McElroy or woodhead, while the pats get brady in the 6th round or the giants pick up victor cruz undrafted. ability to assess talent, giving a guy a chance to play, cutting a guy who did produce ( woodhead) in favor of ravens' rejects. even Bollinger won games in Minnesota as a backup. that's a lot more than el toro will do. :metal:
I agree with this, taco is out, McElroy is mediocre at best & is currently nursing an injury, & the genome looks like a deer in the headlights. The only QB on the team that has shown anything positive IS Matt Simms, let him play & see what he has to offer, that is if it's really all about "the competition."
whether you argue on behalf of Simms or McElroy, the fact is neither will get the chance to play with the starters, or reps with the ones. I have seen over 40 years of disfunction, interrupted only by the tuna and walt micheals, since 1970. the best workers combined with brain-dead management lead to failure: references? Kodak, general motors, chrysler, buffalo sabres, new york jets.
Say sanchez can't start the 1st game of the season and we don't see smith play at all against the eagles . . . Is it crazy for me to think that McElroy would give us a better chance to win against the Bucs over Geno? He's looked good this preseason and didn't look that bad last season even with sparano as oc. I think we have better luck winning that game with a guy that can take care of the ball over the guy that can potentially make the big down the field play.
at this point, reference the last regular season game against tampa. we won with 3rd stringer kellen clemmens at qb. we stand a better chance of winning with simms or mcelroy at qb until geno is ready to play. el taco is out of the discussion , only the cap hit/contract mistake is keeping him on the roster:sad:.
Agreed and agreed! Simms would bring energy to the team and if he fails the team can say they gave him a shot and they would look no worse for wear. If Geno fails the new GM starts out with a black mark on his first and maybe only GM gig. So give Geno time to sit and learn and Simms a shot, best in everyone's interest. The worse case is Geno comes out with his rookie book "let me throw the dam ball" and we then know what type of leader he won't be. Never liked the kid, but firing his agent because he is not talented enough to be drafted in the top ten, gave a glimpse of the type of person he truly is. Sitting behind an undrafted FA would be good for him in so many ways. The Jets love the hype and press, starting Simms would be the talk of the NFL, even better than in Buffalo where the 1st undrafted rookie will start game one for his team.
