solid points, @ouchy you definitely have a unique way of viewing things, dude, I'll give you that. Your posts are always interesting to read, even if I don't necessarily agree with every point.
At the start of last season Herbert was deemed to rookie to start Old QB gets injured and as they say the rest is history. Falk had been kicking about for a bit following Gase from Miami and was third QB so that renders your example pointless from the off because for him to play your older JAG would be injured as well as Wilson but there is a clue in there and it is Gase, Sieman should have been competent and lasted 5 minutes as out OL collapsed and killed him, Falk and then Fales had zero chance from that moment on. I would wager that under this system we would manage to get a rookie QB capable of doing something, i mean, the same system made us as fans think Beathard and Mullens would be alright back ups for Zach and reslly in the cold light of day they are never starting QBs. But it sounds like you are just biased against Morgan because you didnt like the pick, you have scant evidence on show bar one season of Gase ignoring him as only Gase would. He has been drafted by this GM and we either trust him or don't, I thought White looked good last year in TC but as per earlier Gase didn't want to know and would rather lose with an old injured QB than be innovative. I'd rather see what we have before we dump him unseen tbh. I do agree that it would be a pisser for the rookies we just drafted. So let's hope that the OL does it's job and keeps Wilson healthy and he keeps himself healthy to boot. PS sorry for the length of post lol got a bit carried away
If you want to talk about what I stated be man enough to quote me or at least @me instead of dropping your snide post into the mix. Our season would be fucked because developing Zach Wilson is the main agenda of the coming season, if he is out we are standing still for a year at the main position. Of course, developing the other rookies is important. Getting a decent veteran has been and gone atm there isn't one available the ones that are free couldn't develop a fucking cold. The other point is we need to start developing our back up QBs that can slot in when required, what better time to start when we have two sat in camp with no, as yet, viable JAG out there to sign. I'll just chalk this one up to yet another subject that you are unhappy about. Didn't trade back - tick Didnt draft my WR - tick Didnt draft my QB - tick Didn't draft 5 OL - tick Didn't sign a JAG QB - tick Yawn - tick
I didn't quote you because I didn't want to talk to you. I'm sorry if you think the truth is snide. What you posted about me is actually being snide, off topic, and incorrect. Didnt draft my QB - tick - I never lobbied for a QB. Didn't draft 5 OL - tick - I said draft 2 or 3 linemen, not 5. Didn't sign a JAG QB - tick - YEP. Not signing a veteran QB for a QB room with zero total starts is a glaring mistake that we've made this offseason. It reflects on an overall mismanagement of the offseason that hopefully will be fixed. Cue apologists.
Below is a pretty similar 53 man roster prediction to the Xfactor one. Slightly different with 8 CBs and 3 safeties vs 7 and 4, Morgan over White, Edoga over McDermott. Remarkably I see only those 3 differences in the two 53 man predictions. It will be really interesting to see the battle in camp for roster spots. CB seems where the big competition lies. https://jetswire.usatoday.com/lists/new-york-jets-post-minicamp-53-man-roster-prediction/
Nice post. IMO the jets should acquire Foles or a decent backup who has previously started in the NFL for one reason--TO PLAY if your #1 gets hurt. I think the "locker room presence" or the "teaching moments" theories are overrated--nothing helps a locker room more than winning. K'OB doesn't like our hesitancy to have earmark Morgan as main backup because he says there is "scant evidence" in the NFL that Morgan cannot do the job. Call me cynical, but I think every undrafted free agent QB could be your main backup under that theory--unless a guy hasn't shown he stinks, we should assume he can be a productive NFL QB if your #1 goes down (???). As to those that say "this is a rebuilding year anyway, so why have a decent backup QB?"-- I would reply that every team should start every year with the expectation of contending, and even if your #1 goes down always try to win as many games as possible.
I replied to your post in a civil manner, as of yet I didn't see a reply to it though. I notice you drop my name into your chat with somebody else but like him no actual @ to highlight it and bring it to my direct attention. That would be classed as the civil conversation.you mentioned though. Funny old world, when I replied to you in a normal fashion I didn't realise I was opening up such a can of worms.
My reference to civility was based upon your comments to another poster to go f*** himself and calling that poster a spineless c***. I don't see that kind of language/insult advancing anything. We are all jets fans.
Oh, don't take a snide shot and you'll be fine. So you weren't actually interested in replying and having a conversation either then but like the other poster happy enough to mention what I said without an @ or a quote, whilst happily dropping my name at the same time Which, let's face it, is the internet forum version of rude/bad manners. Fair enough.
No offense but I can’t hack the long winded posts, I skip right past them. My posts are short and to the point
Re TE: Westco should make the roster as FB but he’s a TE so there’s the backup TE you want. Re roster: I did a little research… and it’s complicated. 1st active game day players went from 46 to 48 (as long as 8 are OL/ 47 if not) 2nd the are now 55 players on the game week roster with only 53 still on the main team roster. There’s some complicated stuff about who is protected and how many times they can be called up. I didn’t fully understand the nuances with a 5am quick read but here’s a link. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.es...s-practice-squad-injured-reserve?platform=amp
First, thanks for the research. That makes me feel better. It's a step in the right direction. I know that Wesco can be the 4th TE, but if he's having to play TE, then there's no FB, so it still could have an adverse affect on the offense. I believe SF also ran some 3 TE formations. The Jets probably wouldn't do that anyway, because our TEs aren't anywhere near as good as SF's, but it would preclude our running 3 TE sets.
With the existence of the practice squad, all the TEs would have to be injured during the same game for the Jets to be “forced” into starting Wesco. I hope that makes you feel better Bc IMO we need 1 more starting OL that the beat writers are predicting. I’m 100% down to have 2 TE and Wesco and add some OL depth. Maybe get a steady rotation during the game to keep them fresh; similar to what they want to do with the DL
