Do some research on your own, junc. It doesn't even take 5 minutes to look that up from nfl.com. They scored 425 pts, and 364 pts were TDs - huge chunk of the total score. So let me ask you again. When Sparano was calling the shot down there in Dallas, did they settle for FGs a lot too? You should be able to answer that one now - especially since I have provided every necessary information for you.

which tells us more? one sseason or 4 seasons?

and let me know how good Dallas was in that 2006 season?

I'm not saying Tony can't succeed here, I hope he does but I don't want a guy constantly settling for FGs and throuhg his carere he has been mostly a conservative coach.

Is it too early for the "We should've kept Schotty!!" thread?

Got the W-L tangled up. You are correct - 9-7 came during 2006 season.

Yes please. I for one have no faith in Sparano and think he needs someone to be in charge of the passing offense. This would be a great move. Let Rex and Pettine focus on the defense and let Haley and Sparano focus on the offense.

    Score: 26.6 pts/game (4th)
    Total Yards: 360.8 yds/game (5th)
    Pass: 3836 yds, 239.8 yds/game (both 5th)
    Rush: 1963 yds, 121.0 yds/game (both 13th)

And the passing attack featured two of the biggest bitches NFL has ever known, Teresa Glenn and Terrell Owens. (Both had 1000-yard season.)

2 of the biggest bitches but 2 of the top talents- 2 guys we don't have now and thye still managed to not winn a playoff game despite facing a mediocre Seattle team in the WC rd.

Look. I know you don't like this hiring. I know you want to see Jets holding onto your man-crush, that Schottenheimer kid.

But this is just plain stupid. By 2006, Both Glenn and Owens were on the wrong side of 30. (Owens 31, Glenn 32). We are not exactly talking about Fitzgerald-Boldin tandem there, all right? Sheesh!

some people will never be happy even if we win the super bowl, they'll just say we got lucky or were handed the victory...there's no winning against those kind of people

According to Mort, the only stipulation holding up this signing, is that Haley doesn't feel comfortable with the Jets request for him to wear a Luigi outfit when working alongside Mario.

I'm not opposed to the hiring, I'm more annoyed that we have a new OC.

TO can still play and this was 5 years ago, he was still a top WR at that point, Glenn was nearing the end but coming off a BETTER year in 2005. For Glenn it was always about health, when healthy he produced. That tandem in 2006 was much better than the tandem we had in 2011, for one Glenn could get down the field which our WRs couldn't

I'm thrilled he is gone, but I honestly would have liked to see us bring in a proven offensive coach and a guy who can develop Mark, better than Schotty did. Especially when Hue Jackson is available, I think that the Sparano hiring was premature.

I'm leaning a little towards this myself.
The guy is a little bit of a nut. He got into it with T. Owens in Dallas (granted TO gets into it w/everyone). He got into it with Anquan Boldin (a relatively mild guy) in Arizona.
They fired him in KC and the team won the next 2 games vs Green Bay and vs Denver.
We have a divided locker room. Little skittish about bringing on a very divisive guy.

Maybe a guy thats a little nutty is what we need . It seems like he won't take shit from a prima donna wide receiver . Not that Boldin is one but we don't know the situation . I kinda like the idea of a coach thats gonna go off the handle and not praise the players or cry when they fuck up. Plus its not like he's going to have that much power , he might be like Rex's pit bull. Which is something this team needs.

Well cpolor me excited. Lots of change and I see it as for the better. Soft sopken shotty let his offense become a mess this year. We need a few hard asses in the front office. Haley did not put up with the shit from Dwayne Bowe and you can bet that would continue forward if he comes here.

It's about the players, but coaching matters too. What we do know is that the Sporano/Haley combo had a top 5 offense with those players, so they're capable of leading capable players to a top offense. Schottenheimer failed at that for 6 years.

Haley will get the most out of our receivers and the two of them together can hopefully also keep Santurdio in line.
