Should say not making the Super Bowl as a Patriot as some sort of strike against his career is silly.

Ordinarily I would agree but how is Ray Guy, the greatest NFL punter ever not in the Hall of Fame?

It is mind boggling. If the greatest player ever at his position isn't in the HOF then something is wrong.

They should just make punters ineligible, it would seem.

No but Bettis helped Pitt win a Sb as a part time player, Taylor couldn't even help NE get to a title game.

Curtis was not a great receiver and Rbs are judged on running the ball. If not Larry centers would be in the Hall. it's a nice bonus but RBs are judged on what they do running the ball not catching it.

I think Marshall Faulk would disagree.

when you think of Walter Payton you think of catching passes or running over defenders? Faulk was great catching passes but he was also great carrying the ball too. pass catching is a bonus.

When I think of Faulk I really think of him more as a pass catcher out of the backfield and a great runner. That run he had in St. Louis he put up WR numbers for receptions.

Payton was an INCREDIBLE runner but was also a fantastic pass catcher. Kind of like the way I view Marcus Allen.

Those two dimensional guys are incredibly valuable.

Running backs are graded on how we'll they play football. Tomlinson was an all time great bc he could do both. Faulk too.

I answered your question. I didn't say that was why he should be in over him.

Of course they were great out of the backfield but they are most remembered for running the ball, if they couldn't run it they'd be Larry Centers.

    LT vs. us 2004 playoffs:

    9 recs
    26 carries, 3.08 YPC

was it perceived he had a good or bad game?

Why would I pin LT's career to one game? He's a first ballot either way.

Obviously he is a HOFer, follow along. I never said he wasn't. The point is these guys are judged on running the football not catching it.

You run with the ball after you catch it.

sure so it's not like these guys are running 20 yd patterns, they are taking screens and short passes. It is an extension oft he run game.
