So now I've heard reports involving Brodney Pool, Marlon Jackson, Antoine Bethea, and now Darren Sharper. Sorry, no OJ Atogwe.

None of them are happening except maybe Brodney Pool.

Only way wed get Atogwe is the poison pill, and I really dont see that happening.

seeing as we are allowed to sign UFA from top 4 teams i dont see why we dont bring in sharper for a year or to and draft his eventual replacement so the rook can learn behind him

None of those guys are terrible and would immediately give us some draft flexibility.

Bethea requires us giving up a 1st round pick, thats not draft flexability. Jackson signed with the eagles, Sharper is going to be 35 this season, and Brodney is the only one we might get and has concussion problems.

No. Everywhere I keep reading, this is not the case. I don't understand why people continue to say the Jets can sign Sharper when this is virtually impossible.

I'd be happy with the Giants took a flyer on him for one year. That would give us three good safeties against the pass, considering we lacked one safety that can play the pass this year, I think it would be a good signing.

Oh, and Killer, please don't root for the Giants; we don't want you.

Itd probably be a good move for the Giants signing him for one year.

Gives Phillips a chance to recover and get back on his game

Not to mention their secondary can use all the help they could get

Hey wasn't Murrel a free agent? Our situation we can sign a FA if we lose one of ours for the amount of money that the FA whom left the Jets signs with another team. I read Sharper makes 1.7mil a year, and wants an increase of pay, but realizes he is an older player(which means he isnt expecting a giant salary)

Just looked into Marques Murrell. His contract information hasn't been released, but has agreed to a deal with Pats.

So we lost Murrell..We need Jay Feely or someshit to sign somewhere so we can have some money to spend on Sharper for a year.

I guess thats the only way this would work.

Id much rather sign a UFA with a future than one who is going to be 35 during the season.

Guys like Dwan Edwards look like an infinitely better pickup than Sharper.

We're getting a lot of guys back from injury (Ross, Phillips, Webster) but signing Sharper to a one year deal would turn an area of weakness into an area of strength. This is somewhat similar to what the team did at WR; they sucked at the position in 2008 but are now absolutely stacked at WR for sometime. The guys they have at the position could even get better too, they're all young.

I like the idea of a secondary consisting of Sharper, Rolle, Phillips, Webster, Ross, and Thomas. That's a damn talented unit in and of itself and if we go DL in the 1st round (take Dan Williams or Brian Price!) they would only benefit from the return of our pass-rush.

Sharper trying to drum up interest from the Jets?

    http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2010/03/post_156.html

I'd take him for a year and draft a safety to learn this year and play ST

I would love to see him in this defense for a year-

    Revis, Cro, Leonhard, and Sharper-

That would be pretty damn good.

While i would love to see us get younger as a team i wouldn't be opposed to it.
This secondary is young at every position so adding a playmaker like Sharper while developing a draft pick wouldn't be that bad.

There is an article in the Post saying the Jets can get him? Can or can't they get him based on finishing in the top 4?
