In the last two SB the Pats won Edelman has 56 receptions in 6 games for 730 yards. He has been absolutely dominating in big games. Gronk is in the argument for the greatest TE of all time.
They did NOT win those fakes because of him. They won on their defense. That's what guys like you keep missing. When they win, their defense is always top 5 Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
Again an above average receiver but not great. Gronk did not play in all they games that mattered and missed large chunks of some. They won because they have a fleet of above average guys and a stout defense. Hows Julian look this season? Good numbers but are they winning cuz of him? Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
Do you have a point? KS put up 31 on them in the AFC championship game last year. This years Pats d is the best they have had in years. Lets see how deep they go this year with a mediocre O and the best D in the NFL.
They were top 5 in the league every year they've won a super bowl... Go back and look. That's beli's Forte. That's my point. Even when they first won with Brady, they had an all world defense Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
Last years Pats D wasn't close to top 5, their O was top 5. Their D ranked 21st in yards allowed and 7th in points. Their O was ranked 5th in yards and 4th in points.
So out of context. They haven't been great by any stretch on offense. He been the only consistent piece for Brady so he is going to get targets. Brady isn't even ay the best out of all the QBs in the division. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
I agree. he looks washed up. his washed up is still middle of the pack in the league but that team is winning with their defense and special teams
It's not out of context when the discussion was about Julian Edelman though and not Tom Brady. He and Gronk were an elite complimentary duo. And you're underrating him a ton. Either way, we need more offensive pieces. We don't have a go-to guy on third down. And that's a big issue if/when Sam has time.
edelman has Jamison Crowder's career without Brady edit. maybe. gronk woulda been a hall of famer if he played for anyone though
I just don't understand what a go to guy on 3rd down is. It's the guy who gets open to me. There's nobody who's a guaranteed conversion. When the oline has held, we've been pretty good on 3rd down. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
JV--That was a real nice summary/projection for next year--thanks! My only suggestion is that IMO the jets should think about last year's first round pick DL Q. Williams. Mike MacIdiot could have traded down and gotten a lot more draft capital for that #3 pick, but he took Williams. The jets play a 3-4 defense and they are WASTING a great talent like Williams having him occupy blockers--Grunts like Foley, Shepard, Anderson etc. can do that! If the jets are going to continue with the 3-4 defense, I still believe that Q. Williams has a lot of trade value and they could/should move him this offseason and get at least two decent picks to address their battery of needs. Conversely, if the jets switch to a 4-3 defense, Williams would be an absolute beast. But do one or the other--move Williams or put in a 4-3. Not likely they will change their defense for one player, so perhaps he gets traded. But for God's sake, they are wasting him playing a 3-4, using him as a blocker to free up linebackers. Buffalo took Ed Oliver AFTER we picked Williams, and he is thriving in their 4-3 defense, for reasons I just explained. And, as I have posted before, I still cannot believe Mike MacIdiot had been in football for so long and does not understand simple concepts like this--When you draft players, keep in mind the SCHEME your coaches are running!
We're 31st in the NFL on third down. We've seen several drops on third down. A go to guy on third down converts on tougher plays. Coverage tightens up because there's less threat of a run in the 3rd and 4 or higher range. We haven't had a player to consistently help us on that down since Eric Decker. Before that, Jerricho Cotchery. I don't get what the confusion is. We need a player that can convert on the most important down of the game. We don't have that right now.
It doesn't really matter because he was with Brady his entire career and fashioned himself into a really good target that most teams would kill for.
on a possibly more realistic note.....any chance we can get our hands on albert wilson of the fish. impressive WR. putting him on the field with crowder, a true #1 wideout, and maybe anderson would be a nice spread.
How to fix Jets. Owners sell the tean to a football mind. That football mind hires good coaching staff with Douglas' input. Lol. On a serious not though I think you can assume we could easily trade back to insidebtge top 15, still get Higgins and pick up an extra 2nd and 3rd/4th. 2nd I would use on Walker Little or another LT prospect to play LG this year and 3rd/4th on a better rb option or more line depending. I still think AJ Dillon in the 4th is a steal.
