A smile post instead of a frown post? I thought I'd never see it.

    1. Bad knees - too much of a risk. Cut him and draft another QB.
    2. Poor behavior off the field - bad for locker room morale. Cut him and draft another QB.

That's why you cannot blame all those interceptions on the qb back then cause there were no rules as far as mugging WR.Like dick"N-Train" lane used to beat the crap outta WR's.With today's rules Namath would throw for a lot more yards/td's and less int's.He would be like peyton more w/o the work effort.

its ridiculous to compare football players from different eras. the game is vastly different today than it was 30+ yrs ago. Just a fact. Its also ridiculous to judge players based on stats alone - there are many examples of why this isn't a good measurement of a player. Football isn't baseball.

When it comes to championships the difference between 0 and 1 is bigger than any other numbers when it comes to defining legacy today. Right or wrong, it's that one ring Peyton has which allows many football fans/media to put him up there with Brady & Brees.

Namath would have his haters/fans but once he earned that first ring, the label would change from "trouble maker and bad influence in the locker room" to "he's a leader on the football field".

I had to clarify. Until Sanchez (or whomever else is under center) can take the Jets to a SB win, we as fans are stuck with the legend of Broadway Joe. Warts and all.

I just hope it doesn't turn out to be Tebow.
