Belichick is nearly 70 years old; if things soured 10 years ago and he left, approached the Johnsons and said "Give me full control of football operations and coaching, and keep your fucking noses out of my business, and I'll lead this team to a championship," then yeah, I'd forgive him. But right now, I doubt he wants to coach more than 2 or 3 years anyway. When Belichick started with the Patriots, he inherited an exceptionally talented team largely built by his mentor, and Brady was just the missing piece that put everything together for them. If Belichick came here, he's inheriting a complete dumpster fire.
