Battle proven = has won NFL games a (good amount)+ po games . Tom Brady was drafted by his team and his coaching staff had faith in him .Now you are talking apples nd grapes . David Carr is just another QB bust for his team. Now I'm not saying he wont flurish somewhere else but I wouldnt want to see him in green and white ...
Carr has lost 2 fumbles in the last 4 seasons, Chad has lost 3. This despite Carr taking a ton more sacks and playing a lot more snaps in the process. Yes, he had 12 fumbles and lost 5 his rookie year. That was the year he broke the NFL sacked record as I recall...
Are we talking about the same Texans who passed on Reggie Bush? The Same Texans who did not draft Debrick when they have a swiss cheese line. If Chad had to play behind that line he would have been out of the league years ago. If we trade for Carr Chad better perform or he will loose his job.
Plunkett and Doug Williams where both highly talented QB's who effectively became cannon fodder early in there carrriers and were busts for their original teams. Both of them still had enough left to lead teams to SB wins after they had a chance to recover. Carr has tremendous talent but he is clearly a shell shocked QB. Chad is due a pretty big roster bonus in 08 and getting a guy like Carr and letting him sit for half a season might be perfect for both him and the Jets. If Clemens turns out to be the real deal you can unload either Carr or Pennington. If Carr recovers and fits into our system, we might effectively be getting a guy who talent wise, would probably be the first pick in this years draft.
I don't see him claiming to know that... Oh, duh. And again...whats the significance of being "battle proven?" Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl, that man is BATTLE PROVEN. Your explanation for Brady sounds like "well he's a HOF QB now, so what does it matter what anyone thought then?" Carr was the NUMBER ONE OVERALL PICK IN THE DRAFT. Do you understand what that implies? It implies that the coaching staff also had faith in him. How is that apples and grapes? And at 26, I don't get how he's "just another bust." Especially when you consider everything about his situation, he isn't even all that bad. Do things like "facts" and "logic" matter in this debate? Or is it just "the Texans suck, therefore Carr sucks. THEY DIDN'T DRAFT BUSH!!!"
Clemens or the Mystery Qb behind door number one. I rather see what we have in Clemens now than be mediocre again with Chad. I think Carr would be a good risk if we did not have to give to much to get him.
I live in Houston so I've seen many Texans games and let me tell you this guy sucks. He makes horrible decisions and it's not the lines' fault. Even when he's protected he basically runs into a defender. One game two seasons ago they had one more play to win the game and it was a hail mary. So what does he do? He runs around as soon as the play starts looking for an open reciever! He's looking for an open reciever on a hail mary play when the defense is in prevent. He ended up getting sacked and the game ended. That's just one example of how he just sucks. Trust me on this.
Then the rest of the conversation is moot. Anyone can say this guy sucks, if you don't have a plan to be better than we are, a playoff team and contender, the rest is just nonsense.
The Chad crybabies are out. OPEN YOUR EYES! Chad is awesome. Deal with it. Mangini and Schotty would laugh at the suggestion of picking up Carr. Didnt anyone watch him against us last year. He is so bad. Why would anyone want this guy.
I have a three part plan: 1-Let Tannenbaum and Mangini address what needs to be addressed like they've been doing since they started here, which doesn't include a change at QB. 2-Pay the balance of my season tickets. 3-Get some charcoal and sausages and drive out to the first game.
So U R judging Carr on 1 play from 2 years ago at least that is what it sounds like from your post. U also appear to be giving no consideration to the leaky O line that the Texans have. Somewhere I do remember that Carr beat the SB champs last season is that not correct?
If you can read you'd see that I said that's just one example! Yes the Texans beat the Colts finally after how many tries? Wow.
Champ, be real. If the Jets drafted this guy #1 overall and he's turned in the results he's turned in, you'd be all over it in big capital letters. Vilma was drafted later in the first round, was Defensive Rookie of the Year, and you go on and on about what a bad pick it was. But any other team and you have a world of excuses for the player. Interesting.
