That's a sure fire way to ruin a franchise and send it into cap hell. In the salary cap era, you cannot pay for past performance. Coles is one hit away from being done. Guaranteeing his last two years at $11 million is unprecedented. When Coles was traded back to NY, he was given a salary bump over the rich contract he signed with Washington. Coles, for all his guts, is all about money. For Coles - money=respect. Coles has gotten enough money from the Jets. If he wants a longer contract, I would back end in salary and not guarantee anything more than the $11 million.
i wouldnt give coles one more damn dime. he is not an elite receiver like many jet fans believe. how many games has he taken over for us? how many times has he packed us on his back for a big victory? walk coles, walk.
i dont know how u can say that if u watched one game this year, lc is a warrior, he lays it all out on the field, say what u want about him being greedy, but he tries his hardest to earn every penny
I agree 100%, I'm not saying go and throw tons of money at Coles. Thats the last thing I'm saying, just give him a new deal, maybe paying less next season then what he is due to make next season, add in a decent signing bonus and a few more years and I think that would be enough to shut him up.
I totally agree..The Jets renegotiated his contract when we traded for him, now 2 years and god knows how many concussions later, he wants more money and a longer term. If I am Tangini I say play for what we pay you or take a hike. I want to know if he really wants to win or if he is playing simply for the money. The front office has done everything to make this team into a contender and they shouldn't have to put up with LC's distractions.
