Every team uses the shotgun and Chad had success even when we weren't using the shotgun. Coles is aa very good WR but most teams have WRs as good or at least close to him. In oak he could have reunited w/ Moss, in miami they have weapons but no QB, in detroit they have weapons. There are plenty of other teams as well he could have gone to and been a big success, when he's healthy he's a top QB.
penny would be in a body bag if he went to Oak or Mia and I dunno how Mike Martz would get along with Penny. and yes when hes healthy hes great, but this is what the 2nd time hes healthy playing under a franchise contract? im not knocking him i'm just saying things fell into place for him this year and im glad. but none of this was expected, my outlook was "I'm not counting on anything, but if anyone has the heart and will to come back then its Penny" anyways, I'm not questioning his ability. All I'm saying is look at the original poster, he makes it seem as if Penny was cheated for taking a pay cut when I was just getting to the point it was well warranted.
The Ols aren't as bad as the #s suggest, sacks fall on the QB as well. Just look at Miami- daunte was getting sacked 4-5-6 times a game while Joey has barely been touched. he would have been good on either of those 2 teams and Miami would be around 4-2 if Chad was their starting QB.
I'll agree with Miami, as the recievers are there and yes, most of the sacks lie on Dauntes indecisiveness. but if they wouldnt take drew brees they sure as hell werent going to take pennington.
They took harrington, they could have signed Chad as insurance for when they realized daunte wasn't good. Chad would have come cheap and alot of teams would have been willing to take that low risk w/ him.
do you not understand what I said? lol if they werent willing to sign Brees, WHY IN THE HELL WOULD THEY SIGN PENNINGTON? they flunked Brees on the physical, hes now turning the Saints around. No way they take a QB coming off two shoulder surgeries when they wouldnt take a more consistent QB coming off one of a lesser degree.
Culpepper was coming off a serious knee injury. Harrington was healthy and an insurance policy. Pennington comming off of two shoulder surgeries was not a viable insurance policy for Culpepper. He might have got a shot with the Titans, maybe.
You know someone in Dolphin land has to be kicking themselves in the ass over not taking Brees. He's been a hell of a QB.
With what you all are saying, Pennington would of had to do what nyjunc said. However, after that team saw he was ready to play, he would of started and probably played just as good, and we would be kicking ourselves.
I think they would be sitting pretty if they did not sign Chad, and draft Matt Leinart with the 4th pick.........
Matt Leinart is a huge tool. I love Chad, he is one of the smartest and most deidacted players in the league. He has enough skills, is very accurate, makes great decisions, and is an amazing leader. He is more than capable of leading a team to the SB. The great majority of SB winning teams dont have a superstar QB at the helm. Hell, in todays game, Manning, Brady, and maybe McNabb are the only super star QBs. That means the SB can only be won by the eagles, pats, or colts?
fftopic:Here is another question: If the Jets kept Donnie Henderson and stayed with the 4-3, where would the Jets be? Another impossible question to answer, but what if?
McNabb, at this pace, will be in the mix for MVP. He did start 9 games last year, passed for 2507 yards, and had an 85.0 rating. He wasn't bad when he played last year, but he did miss the final 7 games. But if Pennington plays 16 games and continues at his pace, he would be more deserving of the comeback player of the year award than would McNabb.
How is that gonna make me a target? I'm not saying it will happen, but i fear the chances are greater than we think.
Are you his agent? IMHO, if he the Jets had let him go there is a good chance he would not be on a team and if he was he would be 3rd string. Chad is a good fit for the Jets but a lot of teams would want nothing to do with a below arm strength QB coming off two shoulder operations.
