It has been re[orted that Benson is on the Jets short list but they are waiting to see how the RBs perform in camp.
Depth at RB is needed in the NFL. I see Maurice Jones-Drew is still not in camp in Jacksonville would love for Tanne to pull off a deal for him.
He will cost the Jets dearly in terms of draft picks and wants $7+ million a year. That price in terms of draft picks and money are not worth it in today's NFL where RBs are not paid big money any longer. Pass on MJD.
Drew Brees just signed a huge deal and Terrell Suggs is out for the season. Brush up on your football knowledge before attempting to mock mine.
Damn maybe well have to throw in Tebow and Santonio Holmes too. And since Suggs is hurt I guess we should just include Otah !
Lol. If you ran the ball 40% of the time you would be the team that ran the ball the least in the nfl. Most teams run the ball between 46-55% of the time.
RB is a young mans position - like 22-26 young. We have several RB's in that age group whom we've recently drafted and need to give a shot. Spending big money on RB's over 26 with high mileage is a losing strategy in the salary cap driven NFL.
I agree. I think the lack of suitable personnel is the big issue with the Jets offense. I also agree that they may likely have to take whatever the defense is willing to give them offensively rather than forcing Ds to adjust to what they do offensively. A mediocre OL, no blocking TE, and a mediocre RB are NOT the ingredients for success in the running game, no matter how much the coaches want to run ground-and-pound. It's also unlikely that a rookie with fewer than 50 career pass receptions in college, a sophomore slot receiver who was a fifth rounder last season, and a veteran who has done nothing of note so far in his NFL career are going to really give the Jets the kind of passing attack that opens up the defense for the run, especially with Sanchez's inability to read defenses and his over-reliance on his short passing game. It's likely defenders are going to sit in the box and dare Sanchez to throw downfield pretty much like they did last season. Hill and Schilens can only be downfield threats if they actually catch passes downfield. If they can't get open or if they drop passes or if Sanchez ignores them to throw to Keller, then defenses aren't going to worry about them too much and will stay up near the LOS.
No all the facts on what I said about Tebow are just that. No point in talking to someone who can't see the facts.
That is completely wrong. According to this article (http://www.nfl.com/fantasyfootball/...ball-strategies-its-time-for-change-in-drafts), in 2011 NFL teams threw the ball 57.1 percent of the time and ran it 42.9 percent on average. Also Tampa Bay ran the ball only 37% of the time, Tennessee and New Orleans both 39%, and Buffalo and Washington both 40%. Some people are predicting 50/50, calling that a "balanced" offense, yet only five teams (Miami, Jacksonville, San Francisco, Houston, and Denver) ran the ball that much. By today's standards, that number represents a run heavy offense.
