While they're decent examples I'm not seeing two yard losses there. He needs to adjust to the rest of the league catching up to his jump cuts to the outside because he's not nearly quick enough to be effective at it. Those two clips shows that he needs to get back to simply getting north and south on his runs. He's looking for the big play too much because of his early success, when both of those plays could have easily been four yard gains with his contact breaking ability if he runs straight up field. Those runs in turn loosen up the defense to over pursue to the inside so that he can effectively maneuver to the outside. Once again, signs that would display he's a polished great runningback rather than just a battering runner.
Powell is needed so badly. If that is him on plays shown in the video 2-minimum a 5 yard gain. Possible huge gainer on the play qvale is getting bitched around.
I know its been mentioned numerous times, but still can't figure out why we haven't seen Ridley. Just give him a series or two and see what he has. He really just must not be ready physically or mentally.....With a short week here this is the perfect week to get him involved. Ivory could use being spelled a little more than normal tomorrow night.
I've grumbled and grouched about our line for the past couple seasons. Until we gather the necessary pieces, we are still a wildcard team. I love our defense, which still has issues at linebacker, but our team problem is our offensive line. Brick has looked shitty in the run game. He was a project in my opinion, and is a little better than average at best. I like Giacomini's rough/tough attitude, but our guards are average at best. Mangold has been an awesome replacement in Jets history since Mawaie! We need a couple great players here, to be a Super Bowl contender.
Guys who run like Ivory always have an early expiration date. If not for injuries, then just the wear and tear on the body. You can't help but love a guy who runs like that, but it takes a toll.
He looks fucking burnt out...What the hell Ivory! Chris Ivory rushed eight times for 36 yards and caught his only target for nine yards in the Jets' Week 11 loss to the Texans. It was another turbulent afternoon for Ivory who has seemingly run out of gas in the second half of the season. He had just four yards on three rushes in the first half. It looked like he was having trouble getting loose in the early going as he missed part of the first series to get worked on by the training staff. Ivory did contribute a 23-yard run in the third quarter on a nice sidestep but he almost fumbled it on the next play. The Jets found themselves trailing by two touchdowns for most of the second half, which limited Ivory’s involvement. Ivory will have a chance to bounce back against the Dolphins in Week 12. He rushed for a career-high 166 yards against them in Week 4. Nov 22 - 4:51 PM http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6168/chris-ivory
No, you can't take a RB in round one they said. No, #10 overall is too high for Gurley they said. No, Gurley is just going to get hurt they said. No, Don't take Gurley, Leonard Williams is the best player in the draft they said.
To be fair, Leonard was a must-take pick and he has been allright. We also had a Ivory who was still playing with some gas in the tank. Gurley came off a ACL, if he hadn't I am sure he goes much earlier.
