Signing Pierre Desir to be the #1 CB should have been the signal to everyone that Joe Douglas was tanking.

The Jets claimed that they received a trade offer for him. Not that they were actively shopping him. This took place during the season prior to the offseason in which he was traded.

I am not defending what Jamal did by any means, I’m glad we traded him, but what transpired ultimately was what Douglas clearly wanted. We can argue until we are blue in the face and I care not to do that. I respect your take though.

After Jamal whined and acted like a baby in 2019, you may be right that Douglas wanted to trade him, but I don't think that's because Douglas was planning on tanking. I think he didn't want a player that was going to be a "problem child" and there might have been some issues in the locker room that we don't know about, plus he knew he wasn't going to take just anything for Adams.

I have no interest in arguing, either. I was just stating that I disagree with your reasoning, but I do respect your opinion. I will say that you could be right about Douglas tanking, but if Douglas is thinking about tanking, I think it would have come about during this season. After getting all those picks for Adams, with Mosley sitting out this year, Covid, Gase conclusively proving that he is not a competent HC, and all the injuries to the WRs and rookies, Douglas may have thought that this year was going to be pretty much a bust, so why not tank. If so, at that point he really didn't have a lot of assets to trade, but has done what he could to add further draft capital.

It may not be tanking, but when you simply don't have the talent to compete successfully, it certainly can look like tanking.

It was close. They have looked decent with the rookie playing. Their schedule is pretty tough moving forward. They might bet 1 win out of those games
