I checked out the stats for preseason and Roland Martin was on the stat sheet in Wk1 he was 1-1 , in Wk 2 with 3 solo tackles nothing in Wk3 and in Wk4 he led the Seahawks with 6 solo tackles. During the commentary Vs the Raiders they stated Pete Carroll said he had a good camp and felt he was in with a good chance to make the final 53 in Seattle @ 9 minutes into the second quarter. Late in the Quarter when McGloin hit Roberts he was slow to get across and help the corner but on review ruling was reversed and pass was incomplete @ 4:37 left
What is a pack of gums anyway? Is it like that Halloween candy? It's a multi pack of gummy human gums? That would be weird.
Plus, given that their talents are fairly equal, it is not that bad of an idea to go with a guy who spent the summer with a winning organization. Organizations that base their decisions on sentiment usually get burned--like Terry Boobway hanging onto Chrebet too long causing him to lose Coles to the Redskins and then having to trade first round pick Moss just to get him back.
Here is the thing. I love this move. I am a draft nut, I admittedly know little about this player. With that said, this is a good thing. These moves have showed you that this CS and FO have a legit vision for their football team. You can sense that they have a certain criteria for every position out there, and, that are being proactive in making that vision a reality. For example.. Kerley, everyone just assumed he was the slot guy. Check. That wasn't the case though and you can clearly see they have a different vision of the man lining up in the slot. They don't like Kerley's attrbutes as a slot receiver. They want a bigger, fast, physical, tough, tall received occuppying that position. You can go even further with the way they view Amaro and the TE position. Certain positions they visualize different things. I'm willing to beg they are not satisfied ay several positions right now, in terms of their overall vision, but to me, I can see the direction they are wanting to go at the very least. We all like Miles, but if this CS/FO seen an opportunity to bring in someone that resemebled their vision more than Miles. Then I applaud this move.
Guys, it's natural to develop an affinity toward a player you've enjoyed watching rep your colors. But it's a little weird that fans who watch a couple pre-season games think that an NFL GM and his team of highly paid football minds -- who have seen a thousand times more of the players involved, often know the players personally, and are the very architects of the team's actual plans -- are acting rashly and stupidly. Do you really think, if you were sitting in on these personnel meetings, that you would be capable of offering some kind of insight or opinion that hadn't already been discussed at great length?? That's some grandiose shit, homes.
Well you won't catch me defending that dude. He had a painfully bad run, but not because he hadn't prepared with excruciating care, and not because he didn't have a team of pros watching a zillion hours of game film. No one contributing to this forum could have told John Idzik anything he hadn't already heard from lifelong football pros.
In the case of Idzik and the Jets' Scouting Dept. It obviously didn't matter how much film they had watched or how much in depth they had discussed or analyzed the players. They obviously had no eyes for talent. They'd add 2 +2 and come up with 3.
He shows up day 1 & puts Terry F'N Bradway in charge of the entire draft! We were all hoping he was gonna be given a pink slip not draft more crap.
Let's be real. The NFL kinda sucks at evaluating talent. They just shoved Jameis Winston down our throats as the number one overall pick. Watch that go down in flames. The average NFL draft fanatic could probably draft better than half the GM's in the league.
Part of it is the player though too. I agree though that that may end very badly. It seems whenever there are 2 blue chip QBs in a draft, 1 of them surely always busts.
