    seemingly, it doesn't make sense.

but injury history and cap-strapped teams can really devalue a player.

    cheers

The problem with Abraham is, there are only like 3-4 teams in the NFL right now with the kind of money available to pay this turd what he's looking for. He supposedly wants anywhere from $14-20 million per year! WTF? The rumor has been that there just have NOT been that many teams at the combine who could get overly interested in this pain in the @ss for that kind of money.

If he does sign his $8 million deal this afternoon it could force the Jets to cut a little deeper to get the cap under by midnight, therefore sticking it to us. Don't think THAT won't lessen his value on the open market as well. What an @sshole.

The NFL is a pretty tight knit bunch owner wise. If Abe does this which will definitely fit the mold and the pattern, I then see the Jets just saying good-bye. But, don't think the rest of the NFL won't be watching. Abe will end up stabbing himself in the back by making an ass of himself.

He will play again, but he may very well not get nearly what he thinks he is worth. I always hated Prima Donnas. Gasteneau used to piss me off. Lagemen used to piss me off. Keyshawn, ........ nough sad. All great players, but the way they conducted themselves off the field was really a pain in the butt.

The guy is so stupid it's incredible. Doesn't he realize how negative this looks to another team considering him? Oh yeah, I'm gonna run out and break the bank to anty up $20 million for a guy who's basically the antithesis of a "team player." Would you want him on YOUR roster for that kind of money, knowing you're the next one who he'll stick it to, not to mention the bitching and moaning on the side? He's his own worst enemy, I swear to God.

I know you like him, but I am not sure if we should go Center with that pick. Apparently Nick is going to be a very good center though. I would rather do defense with that pick.

Nothing wrong with this kid on Jets TV but when he says source coming I hope he is not reading some BS website thread. I just can not see Denver ( I know they got rid of Pryce) able to sign Abe. Only if Denver thinks Abe is scared shitless of of not getting a long term contract fearing his stock may fall if he gets hurt (Javon Walker), or does not perform this year as well as blowing out another candle for his birthday. I just think it is a far reach right now..

Signing the tender would be a calculated gamble on his part. Signing it hurts the possibility of him being traded (which he wants), but if he doesn't feel like he'll get a good contract offer, he'd be best suited taking the guaranteed $8mil and hitting the market in a potentially uncapped year next year.

He has to sign the tender in order to be traded.
The Jets have to have him under contract in order to trade him

I don't see any way in hell the Jets are keeping him now. This is not Mangini's concept of a team player.

He is allready on the books as far as CAP hit for 06. If he doesn't sign then he falls into the same class as Owens and that only hurts his chances even more. If the Jets keep him he will sign and he will be playing his ASS off for a contract in 07 (may be a ridiculous contract if CBA is not done)

But it'll never get that far if speculation right now is correct. If he signs to the $8 million this afternoon, he sticks it to the Jets just for spite because he will count $8 million toward our cap immdiately. This will force the Jets to jetison other players this afternoon, players they might not have otherwise cut. Abe is not opposed to doing this because he knows we'll trade him (which is what he is screaming for anyway) and he doesn't have to face anyone at camp or whatever this summer. We can't trade him until he signs and he knows there's no way in hell we keep him around after that. We trade his ass tomorrow morning ASAP. This is the scenario I see unfolding. We'll soon see, probably by Friday night, I'm sure.

I agree he has to sign the tender in order to be traded, but if he signs the tender, he's under contract to us immediately, and can't negotiate with other teams. If he's to be dealt, he has to come to an long term contract agreement with another team before they'll bring him in. Nobody will bring him in at a $8mil cap charge.
