I think I'm more nervous for this game than I was about the Monday night one. Damn, this is going to be a trap game. I can't believe it's Wednesday already!

    Interesting stat:

The Broncos have been the best team in the league against the run at home, and the 10th worst on the road, giving up only 64 yards on their home turf and 146 on the road.

They faced Seattle and Indy at home, two teams that struggle running the ball. I think the 146 is more indicative of how well they play the run

Yeah but they faced Ray Rice, Chris Johnson and MJD on the road.

That's a great point, toooon. And something to remember when we start bitching at Schotty for passing the ball. Whatever stats you're coming up with, I'm sure the coaching staff already knows about them. I just hope they have a solid gameplan in place.

That's true as well, but ignoring the road/home element what we've seen is a) Denver is good at stopping teams that can't run and b)terrible at stopping teams that can run. The Jets are the best rushing team in the NFL so I'll be surprised if they don't have success running the ball.

I don't really think it matters how well our opponent plays the run. If we can dominate the Vikings on the ground, we can run on anybody.

    Quick review of the boxscores:

Denvers run defense against the Ravens was beyond awful and their injuries on defense are piling up. That said, they shut down Chris Johnson (19 for 53), did reasonably well against MJD (23 for 98) and gave up practically nothing to Indy and Seattle. I'm not saying this is the '85 Bears but maybe they arent as awful as people think.

Obviously though I have no concern about our ability to run on them. Just pointing out some stats.

Denver's not a bad enough team for this to be a "trap" game, but in the SOJ world that i grew up in, this is the type of game that derailed them in the past. Hopefully this new positive atmosphere around the team helps avoid that BS. This is a team they should beat. It's always tough to win in Denver, but if this team has championship aspirations and hopes for the home field advantage come playoff time, they must win this game. Same formula applies, tough D, balanced offense, good specials and no turnovers. and let's stop a few third and longs this weekend

I would say it's more of a "letdown" game than a "trap" game now that I think about it.

that was before their players got injured.

they gave up 233 yards to the ravens on the ground.
imagine what we to do to them considering what we just did to minnesota?

They shut down CJ but they gave up a 54 yard run to javon ringer. they still rusehd for 122 yards. Jags rushed for 134. We have better offensive lines than all three of those teams.

The colts and seahawks are equally as bad on the ground as denver is. Neither of those teams can run on anyone

I'm not worried about them stopping the run. We ran it down pretty much everybody's throat. We have the best and most physical line in football. and a beat up denver team who's never even that good to begin with isn't going to do much against us on that side of the ball.

Maybe DEN had issues with Rice & Co. since they also had to worry about Flacco and their 3 pretty good WRs. Kept DEN off balance enough so that they couldn't key on the run; which is maybe what they did against TEN and JAX. Didn't see any of those games, just making a guess. Not sure what that means about the Indy game, either. Did Indy pass alot on them and not really need to run?

I think of the teams they've played, we're most like BAL so if we stick to that blueprint (run with the threat to throw to a number of talented receivers) we shouldn't have trouble moving the ball.

Letting teams rush for 132 yards (Titans and Jags) or so is not stopping the run at all. Those teams don't even have potent passing attacks or weapons at the WR position or true pocket presence quarterbacks. Both teams still averaged 5 YAC+.

Indy throws the ball all the time because they have peyton manning. The colts are almost always last in the league in rushing yards. it's part of their identity, so using those stats are moot. the bills could hold the colts to 50 or 60 yards rushing

robert ayers and DJ williams are decent linebackers, but with ayers injured they only have 1 linebacker that can do anything worth a damn

The one matchup that bothers me is Orton and WR corp vs our secondary. 3rd and longs have seemed like gimmees in some games. Just hope this isn't one of them

And we have a potent passing attack. Are you kidding me. Sanchez leading a potent passing attack is a stretch.

I agree. Running should be our primary goal, but with 2 safeties, a CB, and their best pass rusher being ruled out... Exploit all their weaknesses. In Mark We Trust!

You're going to tell me David garrard with Mike Sims walker, Devin Thomas (I think thats his first name), and some scrub 3rd wide receiver behind a mediocre offensive line are going to be mentioned in the same breath with Braylon edwards, santonio holmes, and cotchery? Not to mention Dustin keller, although marcedes lewis is decent.

or that the titans with Nate washington and kenny britt catching passes from vince young, who's more an athlete than he is a QB?

Both those teams rely on mobile quarterbacks, who aren't very good in the pocket, and a do it all RB. Their mediocre WR core can't stretch the field at all. Defenses typically just have to game plan on stopping 1 guy with both those teams. 1 very very good guy,but still 1 guy.

you must be smoking crack if you think that's an analogy for the jets offense.

and like i said, giving up about 132 yards with around 5 YPC is NOT shutting down anybody

That stat would be more impressive towards the ending of the season. Right now, 2 home games is just too small a sample size.

Don't think Sanchez needs to lead this offense past Denver. Probably be the same game plan as always. Run the ball down their throats & play action downfield.

Denver has some good players injured, so Jets offense should be able to move the ball. Only problem I'm seeing is the Jets gets lots of yards but only field goals.

I do not care who are receivers are. Sanchez has to be more accurate. If he plays like he did against the Vikings he will cost us some games. Sure we will beat Denver big but it is the playoffs I am concerned about. I am worried about Sanchez.
