That's awesome, I think I saw an ad for a pass-catching tight end in the Auto Trader last month.

We're not trading Rhodes. I think you must be confused...

With that said, I like Dyson alot, and if anyone has lost a step it's Barrett, who should not be starting anymore, but could certainly extend his usefulness by playing nickle for the next 4-5 years.

Miller was having an outstanding offseason before he was injured, and was ahead of Dyson, and possibly Barrett, on the depth chart. Revis and Miller would be fine starters for us, potentially the best combo we've had back there since Glenn and Coleman. Barrett, Poteat, and Coleman would round out a very nice unit.

Adding a OG of Smiley's abilities would really help our OL.

If we are dangling Dyson, I would still rather upgrade at RT, as Bender and Moore are viable starters if:

    1. We substantially upgrade at RT.
    2. Furgeson can play a whole season like the first half of last season.
    3. Mangold just keeps being Mangold.

Even if we bring in an above average LG like Smiley, Moore will continue to struggle with a guy like Clement next to him.

Wow, didn't see this coming at all.
I wouldn't trade him, I'm not sure about either of Barrett or Miller being a number 2

Well at least he's consistent- he was bad last year as well. I don't see him as anything more than a 3-4x a game dime-back...

I don't like it ... offer up Barrett and take a lower calibre LG...we arent winning the SB this year anyways so get a middle of the road guy that can keep Chad healthy and we can go LG early in next year's draft.

Dyson was the best CB on team last season, but he seems injury prone & likes to shy away from contact. He doesn't exactly fit Mangini's mold. Remeber he likes tough players. He mentioned that what he also likes about Revis is..."He doesn't shy away from contact". Jets' will get there other bookend CB next season. But a mixture of Barrett & # 22 will do for now.

Id be willing to both trade Dyson for him and give him an extension. I might even throw in a middle round pick next year if itd get the job done. Exactly the kind of player the Jets need to add to this offensive line, a punishing run blocker, and at 31 I wouldn't be concerned about his age, guards have a long shelf life, he could realistically be a top shelf guard for another four or five seasons. I dont think you can argue the team is better with Dyson here than Faneca, and I could be wrong but I don't think the Jets cap situation is hurting, in fact theyre one of the few teams that hasn't given out any monster contracts since the cap exploded.

Of course, whether the Steelers would go for that is another question altogether, but if they aren't going to pay him they're going to lose him, and I won't claim to know the Steelers corners all that well, but judging from what I remember from last year, Dyson could be a starter for them. Plus the Steelers are one of those teams that always seems to have quality offensive linemen waiting for starting jobs to open up, they might not have anybody as good as Faneca currently but if were assuming hes gone before 2008 starts, theyll be better off then if they get his replacement some starting experience now.

Well 1 out of 2 is not bad. He is very injury prone. However last year he got injured making a huge tackle on R. Brown. I do not think he shies away from contact at all. He is very brittle however and has been throughout his career.

I am not getting my panties in a wad over a rumor. Tannenbaum has been pretty astute in trades, if he can get good value here than I will reserve judgment till I see exactly what the said value is.

While I am skeptical of the idea of trading our best CB, I think Dyson is being overrated by some on this board.

Dyson is a good corner, but he is far from elite and he has a lot of injury concerns. The Jets also have pretty good depth at CB, especially if they sign Hawkins.

What?! Mabey, you could say that he is injury prone, he's been injured twice with us, i think. Knee or ankle injuries both times.

But, you can't say that Dyson likes to shy away from contact, and that he isn't tough. He made some killer tackles last year.

if thats the case, then why isn't he already on the roster? we wouldn't be looking to give away one of our top cb's, if it was so simple...

the only problem with this is, the 9'ers have a good young cb(spencer) along side clements and don't need a dyson..
