Dyson being made of glass may be a factor here.

thats exactly what i thought when i first read about giving dyson away on a trade. this team can't seriously think they can get by with such a young inept left side of the present line. my bet is, they are looking for a vet left guard and not just another young guy to mold/learn the position. this close to the start of the season, it would have to be a veteran to come in on a moments notice and start. especially not even knowing the offense!!!!

From the sound of this thread if I didn;t know better I would think Andre Dyson was Champ Bailey.

The Jets are rebuilding with a staff that actually has the brains to win a SB. OL is the key to winning a SB especially when the best players on your team is a scat back and your WR's and you just tied up a fortune in a FA back who is going to need blocking to be effective. Not to mention we have a fragile QB and a young QB who are going to need solid line play to take this team anywhere now or in the future. The Jets have also tied up a 1st and 2nd on CB and have some depth and good safties. If you can get a good long term player on the OL for Dyson you do it. This is still a rebuilding team and Dyson isn't going to be here in a year or two anyway. With the rule changes in the NFL CB are highly over valued. The Jets are loaded with skill players, we are soft up front and if you want to compete for a SB unless Payton Manning is your QB you can't be soft up front.

I didn't read through the whole thread, but isn't Dyson a necessity with our DL porous pass rush? If the CS feels Miller can step up, then make the trade, other than that I'd keep him (unless they're getting someone who can consistently hurry the QB).

News Flash: Barrets gives a 10yd cushion.

I can't bear to watch that again.

look at what happened to our corners last year. injuries forced us to start poteat in the playoffs. we need to keep dyson. dangle a mid rounder instead

with no o-line we dont sniff the playoffs

Winston had it nailed. the best players on this team are our WR's and biggest playmaker in RB Leon Washington. give us a better o-line and we actually become a dynamic team instead of defenses figuring "lets put 8 in the box and jump chads routes"

now I agree our depth at CB is pretty bad which is why we traded up to grab Dyson. but if we can get a young OG whos just as good if not better at their postion than Dyson is his. then we need to do it. we can draft corner again early next yr and have two good young corners meanwhile having acquired a LG who will be here for a good time and not decline in play.

The other end of that news falsh: Our current O-line will get our QB's and RB's killed this year.

If we need to trade a DB for quailty Offensive lineman I would not mind.

Giving up passing yards sucks. Seeing your third string QB in by week 3 is worse.

lol it required sarcasm to be truthful. you claimed revis would play like the roy before he's ever even taken a snap in a real game. i can see qb's taking shots at him early and often this season. he's still a rookie and hasn't played against the level of competition he's going to play against when the season starts for real!!! until he actually does something against the top competition, he's just a wannabe still. i have high hopes, but i expect a long season for him with the learning curve just a week away..

mr enthusiasm??? lol. it's just the same old same old, with some people over evaluating talent that has yet to even play a snap in the nfl. i do like your posts though, they give me something to laugh about.

Have you actually evaluated the over all talent in this league? The league isn't that good and the QB play for the most part sucks. We were confussing most NFL teams with Hank Poteat in our D back field last year. What makes you think this staff can't take an obvious talent upgrade over any one we have at CB and make him successful over the current crop of mostly average at best NFL QB'S?

I disagree with JC on many talent issues but if you look at talent on a relative basis, things aren't so simple.

Aside from you wanting to start Clemens and Harris, which is not an unpopular view, who else's talent assessment do you disagree with?

I'm somewhat confused over what you guys are arguing over.

In my view, if they are looking to add depth, find the best FA guard out there. Trading one of your best CBs seems foolhardy and could blow up in your face down the road. I wouldn't trade Dyson, unless I'm getting a proven guard such as Alan Faneca.

I hope this was rhetorical JC? Other than QB, I bow to you when it comes to talent assessment.
