The Woodhead/Chrebet thread was the best one though. During camp there's threads about everybody, but during the season it's generally about guys who are on the field. The reason Woodhead is being discussed again is that he is playing football and contributing, just not for us.
If people would stop overreacting and starting threads about what a bust he supposedly already is, you wouldn't see threads about him...the CB one aside, but that's based on Rex's statements. I don't think any of the people exercising patience with him would have felt a need to say anything about him were it not for the others.
what happens when LT gets turf toe and Greene breaks his ribs again? mcknight will be in whether we like it or not soon enough
its a good point. when we drafted greene last year we figured we'd never use him but low and behold there he was at the end of the year and in teh playoffs coming up big cause leon went down
He asked "what would happen if our 2 running backs went down?", which is arguably the best 1-2 tandem in the league. He made it seem like it'd be shocking to see us not be as good if this happened. Your team is going to lose a step if your 1st and 2nd string goes down at a position...there's no denying it.
Do you think the team would be worse if Sanchez, Brunell, and Clemens were injured? Why don't we have a plan for when this happens???
It happened last year. Again, football players get hurt, especially RBs on a run happy team. So we're discussing the depth at the position, in two threads at once, that's why we're talking about keeping guys like Leon or Woodhead vs McKnight even though none of them are needed at this moment. Because in one or two plays you might need them.
I know that it happens, and last year when it happened we addressed the issue. (1 RB, not 2....) You don't address it before it even happens.
You prepare for it before it happens or else you can't address it if/when it happens. You do that by keeping the best football players. Last year Leon got hurt in October, Jones in December and Greene in the playoffs. That's three.
What happens if Holmes and Edwards go down and we don't have David Clowney to play 3rd WR? He'd be as valuable to us at WR as Leon or Woodhead would be at RB. Let's whine about that one for a while. You can always tell when a poster has absolutely no substance in an argument. He tries to use the worst possible scenario as proof.
Same thing that would have happened last year if both Jones and Greene went down and Woodhead was declared the starter. A disaster.
There are only 53 spots on a team, you can't have 5 backups for every position for injuries. I'm sure management has plans if injuries occur. Just because us fans don't know about it doesn't mean it hasn't been addressed. It's just ridiuclous to assume LT and Greene will get injured, and then bash the management for not addressing it. Do you want them to release a public statement on what would happen if LT and Greene are injured?
Why is it whining just because I don't agree with you? We're discusing depth at a position, so of course that relates to someone getting hurt or else it doesn't matter. The issue is the next guy to step in is McKnight, who may not be ready to do it, after we got rid of two guys who are more prepared to help us out. It's not whining, it's a discussion. Don't have it if you don't want to.
If Revis and Cromartie get hurt, do you think Wilson, Coleman, Lowery/Cole are "ready" to fill in to their roles? It's ridiculous how you are acting like we should have no decline in play if starters get injured. ..and if it's a season ending injury, we have the option of signing new players.
