I been a Leon supporter since he won the ACC player of the year award with the Noles...When we drafted this beast with our 4th round draft pick, I was like...Reggie who?!? This dude is one of the better overall athletes in the game today. You know whats scary? Leon will continue to get better, this man is a player. Washington, Cotchery, Stucky, Mangold, Ferguson Lowery, Revis, Rhodes, Gholston, Harris These young players are the future of this Jets franchise...I love em. It's up to the Jets front office to build a solid team around these young guns for years to come and as of right now, with players like Faneca, Jenkins, Favre, Coles, Ellis and Pace...I really like our chances here in 08. Not only do we have exciting young players who are EXPLOSIVE...We also have some veteran leaders who know how to win tough games.

Washington is an awesome player. I said a while back they really ought to try him as an every down back and see how he does. I still feel that way. He's not small, just short. Give the guy a chance.

They sure used him pretty good today... Offense, Defense and Special teams. Thomas Jones is the work-horse who carries the work load, Leon Washington is an open-field type of running back (Screen passes), Punt returns and kick returns... He's always been this type of player. Nothing has changed since his days with the Noles. We never drafted Leon to be the next Barry Sanders...The Jets drafted this dude to be a play-maker...And he's been just that since day one. Since when was Leon the feature back for this Jets team? Mangini is using Leon Washington in the perfect way. More carries would be nice, but we have Thomas Jones for that.

It's funny how Jet fans complain about the way the coaching staff uses Leon Washington....Even after a game like today. It's pretty funny. Give credit where credit is due. Mangini and company put Leon Washington in situations where he could make an impact, and thats just what the man did...He made an impact. Cotchery, Stucky, Revis...And so many other Jet players could be the #1 Punt Returner, but their not... Mangini has Leon as the #1 punt returner for a reason...And he also has Leon as the #2 RB on the Deph chart for a reason. He actually understands what type of running back Leon Washington is, he's an open-field type of back...And thats how they use him. Sorry to say...But Mangini knows more about this team than anyone around here. Get over it.
Awesome +1000 How can anyone contend that this coaching staff used Leon correctly today? 6 offensive touches is using the most dynamic player on this team effectively? How about last week against the Raiders? Was he used effectively there against a horrible run defense? Jones goes down quicker then Rosie O'Donnel on Whoopie Goldberg. Bleh If he had 159 against the Raiders, Leon should have had 259. Then again to do that he actually would have to get a handoff.
Why would they do something thats logical and would work? That would mean winning by more than one possession. Pussy Jet football mandates state that games must be won closely to not gain respect or fear in the NFL. If Mangini had MJD from JAX, he'd use him as much as he does with LW. They are the same player but MJD is a little faster and bigger than LW, but it wouldn't matter - they wouldnt be utilized. Give this team to Mike Smith, Tomlin, Jim Harbaugh, or any other young tough SOB coach. They'd put this team in the AFC championship game this year.
You just repeated your last post. Not a very good argument. He has no control over the number of carries he gets, so your repeated argument is invalid anyway. He does have control over what he does when he gets those carries, however. Seems to me he makes the most of the opportunities he does get as proven by his 22 ypc. Now give me a good reason why you think he is not good RB. edit: didn't realize you were going with the "Dware" style of argument today...I thought the CS's lack of ability to maximize the talent on their roster was given at this point and not really worth a mention as it has already been beaten to death around here.
