Which of course is why he took a team that had missed the playoffs 2 straight years and 7 of 8 and guided them to 3 in 4 years and we are about to miss out on the postseason in back to back years for the first time since before Herm came here.

I beleive 2 out of the 3 were a result of us backing in. I find it difficult to be credit-worthy when you have to depend on somebody else to decide your fate.

Different circumstances. With the Jets offensive and defensive lines they should have been a powerhouse in 2004 and they just weren't. Under Herm the Jets lost almost every key game they had that might have shifted the power base some in their favor. The only exceptions were the two games in 2004 against San Diego, and we all know now how fractured that organization was at the time with power struggles running up and down the org chart.

We backed in when we beat Oakland at Oakland in 2001? A place the last time we won we were the Titans.

We backed in when we crushed NE on the road in week 16 and humiliated Favre and GB in week 17?

We won the games we needed to win to get in. It sure beats missing out, right? We never lost a week 17 win and in game like we did in '93, '97 and '00.

We had a dynasty team at their peak in our division, Pitt was 15-1. We lost our QB midway through and our best pass rusher.
