Sure, let's toss another season in the fire. I don't believe there is a direction or identiy under Bowles. We were suppose to at least continue strong defense under Bowles. Bowles has effecitively taken the Jets defense, and made it one of the best jokes in the league.
Maybe after yet another suck ass season next year, Woody will be so frustrated that he'll accept the offer from that Vaynerchuk guy who dreams of owning the Jets.
Why does he have to be given a third season? What has he done to earn that 3rd season? Is there some rule that says when you hire a HC that he has to be given 3 years, no questions, even if he is clueless, the team sucks, and he has shown zero abilities as a HC? SMH
Players play...... coaches coach..... you can't teach heart, and right now, we have none....... we also don't have a lot of talent...... it's not all on Bowles
A big part of coaching is motivation, and those you can't motivate - those who have no heart or pride - you cut or bench. Who has Bowles cut or benched for poor play/effort? If a coach allows players to dog it, he's going to have problems motivating everyone else. Isn't that what Monday night looked like to you?
Fair enough. But I think coordinators, assistant coaches, players and fans rely on the head coach to lead us in a direction and give us an identity. Bowles seems to be looking for someone to lead him. I dont see the team going anywhere under Bowles "leadership." There is talent. However, you're right; there is no heart. The team plays like the head coach leads. Hapless, lifeless, without passion etc etc etc
Yes lets can the OC responsible for the best offense in franchise history over a bad year due to Fitzpatrick...Getting rid of Gailey would be another mistake. But Kacy Rodgers shouldnt be allowed in a defensive meeting ever again
Anyone who believes a third year is all Bowles needs to suddenly emerge is completely delusional. The Jets will be purging the roster. Things will get worse, not better. If Woody is going to stick with him, it will take much longer than one more year. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
This isn't about what Gailey did last year. That's like rewarding Rex for 2 straight AFCG appearances and forgetting about the 4 horrific years that followed. Gailey has been absolute horseshit this year. His play calling in the RZ has been atrocious. Him and Rodgers both should be shown the door.
UNLESS a QB clicks. That what you need in the NFL. If not, clearly the Jets will continue to struggle in 2017.
Well, to be fair, today's NY Post column by Cannizaaro - http://nypost.com/2016/12/10/bowles-has-been-bad-but-jets-past-alternative-a-question-mark/ - makes a good comparison between Bowles and Quinn, the "consensus" choice over Bowles. I haven't seen or read enough about the Falcons to know what state they're really in, but based on the raw numbers, Cannizzaro shows Bowles and Quinn on the same par. But like everything else, numbers rarely tell the real story. As Mark Twain said: "There are three kinds of lies: Lies; damn lies; and statistics". From what I've seen of Bowles's body of work, I don't think he's a good coach, so that means either Quinn is a bad coach, or the numbers lie, or I'm wrong...(of course I'll discount the last possibility) .
And for those arguing that you should a HC three years, what do you think about the report that Rex is going to be fired?
Well Mangini was once told by Woody he was safe no matter what then got fired at the end of the year anyway, so there's that.
I don't mind giving a coach more than a few years - actually I think that's better than playing HC-musical chair every two years. One condition - no regression. Watch today's shit show today and tell me Jets team as a whole progressed. [This is why I turned to "fire Bowles" camp lately.]
Of all the franchises in the league, you choose the Bills? There about as hapless as we are...... we should be following the Steelers, Broncos, Patriots way of doing business not the freaking Bills
Bowles can't get the veterans nor the rooks ready for game day. His coaches may suck but he should go as well. JMHO
I'm just pointing out that many have said "You should give a HC at least three years" without any qualifiers. I'm NOT saying they should be like the Bills or Browns, don't put words in my mouth.
I've said this before. I think there's a real chance the Falcons fire Quinn rather than letting Shanahan go to another team.
