It's not only that - it's the 8 or 9 blown saves last year, the incompetence in LF that costs him a game, another blown save this year - he's been unhittable for 4 months and 22 starts, and he's only 12-1 in that span!
People always talk about how many games the pen blew for him BUT last year he had a few that the offense bailed him out on. It wasn't too many but they never get discussed.
I didn't discuss them because they had nothing to do with my point. I specifically referred to the last three months of last year and the first month of this year. During that time he has made 22 starts, and in exactly ONE he gave up more than 3 earned runs. In fact in only THREE did he give up more than 2 earned runs. He has been by far the best pitcher in baseball over that time, and the team has let him down repeatedly. Even in the earlier part of last season he only had three starts where he gave up 4 or more earned runs, and he lost two of them, hardly evidence of the offense bailing him out very much.
I quoted your post but that wasn't directed at just you, I always here how the pen blows games for him but never about those games last year where he got saved by the bats and the pen.
