he reportedly had pull as to which interested team he could go as a token of appreciation of sorts from chicago. so he definitely had a hand in that process, if only to a fault. i think he just wanted something new yet comfortable to latch onto, NY was apparently the perfect choice.
Teams giving players permission to seek a trading partner is pretty common actually, it happened with Evan Mathis, Andre Johnson and Sam Bradford most recently. The Jets even did it with Cotchery. Most times those players end up being released because the teams they want to go to either don't want to give anything up or don't want the player our know the player will probably be released anyway, but it happens. In this case I'd be skeptical of the idea that Marshall chose the Jets, but the Jets went on record about sweetening the money they just gave to Marshall as a condition of the trade which sure makes it sound like he was given a choice in the matter.
Geno hasn't become enough of a bitch yet. It will probably happen some night when Geno wants KFC but Marshell wants burger king
1) anyone who actually believes that Marshall picked the JETS because of Geno is a fool 2) I'm glad he publicly said it. This team needs some leadership roles on offense, and a confidence boost to the apparent weak point is a good thing.
I think he picked the jets because of Geno… among other factors.(offensive role, Bowles, pay, NYC) He needs a new bestie for lack of a better phrase, I think he genuinely believes theres opportunity with Smith.
it's hilarious how people are eating this up. the bears chose where he was traded. players don't make these decisions.
Brandon Marshall has enough clout to pick among the interested candidates where he wants to be traded. We're not talking about a David Nelson that wouldn't have a choice in the matter. As for why Marshall chose to play here. It is more than likely a combination of seeing potential in Geno and thinking he could help take him to the next level, the fact that it's closer to his Inside NFL job helps as well.
Please, just a few words that should NOT be used in the same sentence as Geno. Potential Accurate Smart Intelligent Bright Starting - only because Fitz is hurt. Good Did I miss any ?
OK, I know Geno isn't a good QB, but you have to get rid of potential. By some chance, if we were able to implant Chad Pennington's brain into Geno - he would be the best QB in the league.
